On 1 January 2019, Romina Gowin-Becker (36) has been taking over at the helm of Messe Frankfurt’s department for congress and conference business. She replaces Claudia Delius-Fisher, who entered her well-deserved retirement after 31 years of service to Messe Frankfurt.

Messe Stuttgart is strengthening its Industrial Solutions business division with its takeover of the trade fair association Expo 4.0. The TV TecStyle Visions, WETEC and GiveAdays trade fairs, which in the past have already been held as guest events, have now been added to the portfolio of Messe Stuttgart's own events.

UFI, the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry, is launching the 2019 UFI Awards. Organisers, venue operators, and service providers are all encouraged to take part and share their best practice cases for five separate categories: HR Management, Digital Innovation, Marketing, Operations & Services, and Sustainable Development.

Deutsche Messe is acquiring a controlling interest in LaserFair Shenzhen via its group company Hannover Milano Fairs Shanghai, a Joint Ventrue with Fiera Milano SpA. LaserFair Shenzhen is a well-established trade show for laser technology that is held annually in Shenzhen, a city of some 12.5 million people in southern China.

UFI, the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry, has launched its 2019 Next Generation Leadership (NGL) Grant and is inviting talented industry professionals from around the world to apply. Now in its fourth year, the UFI NGL Grant promotes next generation leadership in the exhibition industry.

Oliver Frese, Deutsche Messe's member of the managing board responsible for CEBIT, requested that the executive committee of Deutsche Messe's supervisory board release him of his duties effective 31 December 2018. The committee agreed to his request, the trade fair organiser reported.

At Messe Frankfurt, the new Hall 12 was officially opened on 25 October at a ceremony attended by some 2,000 invited guests. The building was constructed over a two-year period and is the "cornerstone of the open area development in the western section of the Messe Frankfurt exhibition grounds".

With the aim of promoting and informing others about the exhibition industry in Latin America, UFI - the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry, has signed a new media partnership agreement with Ferias & Congresos, the leading exhibitions and events media distributor based in Argentina.

In a further bid to expand its footprint, Messe Frankfurt Trade Fairs India Pvt Ltd, the German group’s Indian subsidiary, announced that it has entered into a strategic alliance with Gifts & Accessories, the Exhibition Division of Netlink Solutions (India) Ltd.
