By the time the Frankfurt Book Fair opens its doors on 16 October 2019, featuring Norway as this year’s partner country, the technical revitalisation of Hall 6 will have come to an end. Designed by architect Martin Schoenmakers and brought into operation in time for the 1963 Spring Fair, the exterior and interior of Hall 6 will look like new again.

Konstantin von Vieregge, Managing Director of Messe Frankfurt South Africa, will be moving to Atlanta to assume the position of President at Messe Frankfurt Inc. He will be succeeded by Joshua Low, who has already been Group Exhibition Director at Messe Frankfurt South Africa since June 2017.

UFI, the Global Association for the Exhibition Industry, has released the latest edition of its flagship “Global Exhibition Industry Barometer research”, taking the pulse of the industry, and reporting global and regional trends as well as a total of 19 market profiles, including – for the first time – Japan.

Global exhibition organiser Easyfairs has strengthened its trade show portfolio by acquiring two events from Clarion Events: FMB and FMB-Süd (Forum Maschinenbau) in Germany. These are highly strategic acquisitions in the engineering market, in which Easyfairs already enjoys a strong reputation.

The retail sector in the consumer goods industry has been undergoing an enormous transformation for a while now. Increasing digitisation has been changing and shifting order placements towards digital alternatives. Working with a partner, Messe Frankfurt has therefore started to develop the digital B2B marketplace nextrade for the consumer goods industry.

Trade fairs as stimulants for growth markets: This was the topic discussed by Werner M. Dornscheidt, Chief Executive Officer of Messe Düsseldorf, and Amr Nassar, Minister of Trade and Industry of the Arab Republic of Egypt, when they met in Cairo. In December this year Messe Düsseldorf will be organising pacprocess Middle East Africa (MEA) for the first time.

1 April 2019 sees Marius Berlemann take over as General Manager at Messe Düsseldorf Shanghai Co. Ltd. where he will be in charge of all projects and personnel for the portfolio of Messe Düsseldorf in China. He succeeds Heiko M. Stutzinger who left the company on 31 January 2019.
