A team of researchers at the Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Technology and Advanced Materials IFAM in Dresden is developing resorbable pacing leads that can significantly reduce risk factors after cardiac surgery. In collaboration with the Faculty of Medicine Carl Gustav Carus – TU Dresden, the institute’s researchers are adopting this novel approach in the project “Resorbable Molybdenum Temporary Cardiac Electrodes,” or “ReMoTe CarE” for short. The joint Fraunhofer booth in Hall 8a, Booth G10 will showcase the very first demonstrators.

Sandblasting – that was yesterday. Laser beams can clean and structure surfaces more precisely, cost-effectively and in environmental friendlier ways than conventional systems. The Fraunhofer Institute for Material and Beam Technology IWS in Dresden has developed the technology “LIGHTblast” for this purpose which is now being transferred to the semiconductor manufacturing, automotive supply and other industries.

Together with the support of the industry, the Regional Association of Guilds of Württemberg Bakers and the Academy of the German Bakery Trade in Southwest Germany have compiled a colourful programme relating to hot topics such as the shortage of skilled workers, resource conservation and customer retention for the Bakers' Trend Forum during südback 2022. The event will be supplemented by trend talks, practical demonstrations and discussion panels. "Of course, there will also be enough time for personal discussions during the Bakers' Trend Forum. We will have plenty to discuss after such a long period of social distancing when meetings were not possible at trade fairs or exhibitions," said Tobias Pfaff, Head of the Academy of the German Bakery Trade in Southwest Germany. Bernd Kütscher, his colleague from the Academy in Weinheim, added: "We are currently experiencing enormous changes on the market. Some raw materials are sold out and prices have risen substantially. Energy costs have rocketed and some companies can barely afford to pay them. The shortage of personnel has never been so severe and customers are making savings wherever possible."

Innovative lighting concepts can make a decisive contribution to safety in both urban and rural areas. After all, illuminated streets and squares ensure that pedestrians or cyclists have good visibility and - just as important - are seen by others. Of course, road traffic also requires illumination that is adapted to the local situation and the respective traffic volume in order to enable drivers to arrive safely after dark.
