According to the 18th UFI Global Barometer, the exhibition industry remains geared for continued growth in 2017 - despite an ongoing slowdown in global economic growth, and a decline in open trade promoters on the international stage.

The IMEX Group is taking a new approach to its education and content strategies from 2017 by introducing an annual 'talking point'. The single, headline theme will allow the company to plan and respond more dynamically to rising trends and issues within the international meetings, events and incentive travel industry.
Messe Stuttgart acquired the remaining shares in its Turkish subsidiary with its head office in Istanbul. Up to now Messe Stuttgart held 60 per cent of the shares. 45-year-old Ufuk Altintop is the new Managing Director of Messe Stuttgart Ares Fuarcilik.
More exhibition space at Messe Berlin: The construction of new Hall 27 will architecturally complete the circle of buildings on the grounds and once renovation work has finished will provide additional floor space, the trade fair organizer announced.

The world's most sought after seal of quality for exhibitions, the "UFI Approved Event" certification, is growing its reach. UFI, the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry announced that it will expand its events accreditation scheme.
UFI, the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry, has appointed Carine Sire to the newly installed role of Regional Manager Europe, based in UFI’s Paris headquarters. UFI created the new position in a drive to strengthen links with its more than 300 European members.
Claude Membrez, General Manager of Palexpo Geneva (Switzerland), was elected President of EMECA (European Major Exhibition Centres Association AISBL) for the upcoming two-year period 2017-2018. Current EMECA President María Martinez will continue in the EMECA Board as Vice President Strategy in 2017-2018.
Easyfairs announced its acquisition of Pentawards, the most prestigious worldwide competition exclusively dedicated to packaging design in all its forms. Created in January 2007, Pentawards' primary mission is to increase awareness of packaging design and those who create it.
