Small children still use a form of the so-called dandy horse, balance bike or draisine, which the inventor Karl von Drais first tested on a longer route on 12 June 1817. Now, 200 years later, computer scientists at Saarland University are making the forerunner of the bicycle attractive for adults. Their prototype, still made of wood, contains an e-motor, battery, sensors and mini-computer.

Protection of the world’s oceans and waterways has been an issue of central importance to boot Düsseldorf for many years now. Starting this year, the leading international water sports trade fair is now a supporter of the “ocean tribute” Award. On behalf of his foundation and the German Ocean Foundation, Prince Albert of Monaco called on the scientific and industrial communities as well as society in general to enter projects for the Award when he spoke at boot 2017.

Here they can gather basic information and receive key fundamentals from experts helping them to make the right purchasing decisions. With the "most spectacular images and breathtaking footage", the Dream Tour Cinema will return at Caravan Salon 2017 in Düsseldorf. This year, Germany’s Allgäu region, the Baltic and St Petersburg, Lake Baikal and Mongolia, the Heart of France, the Pan-American Highway – from Tierra del Fuego to the Caribbean and a campervan tour from Düsseldorf to Beijing are in focus. Caravan Salon will take place on 26 August to 3 September, 2017.

This year the WFBSC Congress - the world's leading conference for the cleaning sector, is being held in Berlin for the first time. Parallel with the international trade show for the cleaning sector, CMS Berlin 2017 (19-22 Sept.), the WFBSC (World Federation of Building Service Contractors) Congress will focus on the subject of 'Cleaning in a Digital World – Processes, People, Technology'.

Interzoo, trade fair for the pet supplies industry, will return with a new schedule in 2018. Interzoo 2018 will take place from Tuesday 8 to Friday 11 May including the German public holiday Ascension Thursday. The organisers intend for all future Interzoo fairs to include Ascension Thursday, a public holiday in all German states.

Messe Berlin is now offering a preview of selected highlights at the international cleaning trade fair CMS Berlin 2017 – Cleaning.Management. Services. The CMS Innovation Report is based on material contributed by exhibitors. It mainly targets the media, but also those who may be interested in the fair and the subject matter itself. The trade fair will take place on 19-22 September, 2017.

What will the e-bike look like in the future? The answer from many manufacturers of e-bike drive systems is "like a bicycle.” What sounds easy is a challenge for the players in the e-bike market, as will also be demonstrated at the Eurobike in Friedrichshafen (August 30 to September 2, 2017).

Munich's photonics trade fair continues to grow: 1,293 exhibitors presented their products to the more than 32,000 trade visitors — "record figures for the trade fair on both counts", organizer Messe München reports. 800 of the 1,293 exhibitors were from abroad. 60 percent of the visitors and Congress participants traveled from outside Germany.

To be geared up for the future Europe’s leading fair for the hairdressing trade is positioning itself anew. In addition to the move into Halls 4, 5 and 6 and an entirely new logo the new name also aims to inject a breath of fresh air into the event. Running on the second weekend of March 2018 the event will be known as TOP HAIR Düsseldorf – DIE MESSE.
