True to it's theme on "Pressures & Profits", the programme for this year's UFI Global Congress is loaded with sessions focused on overcoming obstacles and adapting to change. The UFI Global Congress, titled "Raising the Odds - Pressures and Profits in the Exhibition Industry", will take place from 1-4 November 2017 in Johannesburg.

The International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE) announces this year's recipients of its individual awards program, which recognizes IAEE members and member companies who have made outstanding contributions to the exhibitions and events industry. During Expo! Expo!, the recipients will be honored.

On the fair grounds of Messe Stuttgart, the construction of the Paul Horn Hall is on schedule: work has gone into top gear on the interior construction, façade cladding and rooftop greening of the new trade fair hall, the trade fair organiser reports.

Following his re-election as Chairman of the European Chapter, Gerald Böse, the CEO of Koelnmesse - will continue his involvement in the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI) for another three years, the trade fair organizer announced in Cologne.

At the 84th UFI Global Congress taking place on 1 - 4 November, 2017 in Johannesburg, South Africa, this year's theme - "Raising the Odds - Pressures and Profits" - is aptly chosen when you consider the last seven months and the events of the past year, not only for the exhibition industry but on a global scale.

For the first time, net space sold at Asian trade fairs surpassed 20 million net square metres, UFI reports. The research shows that 20.77 million square metres of space was sold by exhibition organisers to their clients in Asia in 2016 - up from 19.69 million square metres the year before.

UFI's Global Barometer shows a growing industry, currently refocussing and advancing on digital transformation: Globally, the majority of exhibition companies report increases in turnover and rising profits for 2017. Companies are putting more focus on the economies in their respective home markets.

Since 2007, NürnbergMesse China has been planning and organizing trade fairs, exhibitions and congresses, and in the process has aligned itself strongly to the content of the trade fairs and exhibitions in Nuremberg.

Changing event formats, shifting exhibitor and visitor expectations, global competition, and more digital venues will be the main topics at this year's UFI European Conference, headlined "It's time!", on 10-12 May in Cologne, Germany, the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry announced.

At Messe Frankfurt, the existing Hall 5 will be demolished as of the end of 2019 once modernisation work has been completed on the adjacent Hall 6. The new Hall 5, the design for which also includes a photovoltaic system in the roof, is to be completed by the end of 2022.
