ProSweets Cologne 2017: 3D printing of sweets

On the occasion of ProSweets Cologne and ISM in Cologne, ZDS - the Central College for the German Sweets Industry e.V. - is organising the trade congress "INNOFORUM SWEETS & SNACKS". The aim is to place the focus on the most innovative products, technologies and processes within the sweets and snacks industry and discuss these with industry experts. The theme of the congress that extends over two days is "Additive production and 3D food printing for the sweets and snacks industry".

At ProSweets Cologne, experts will discuss the potential of additive production and 3D food printing for the sweets and snacks industry.
Experts from Germany, Finland, Great Britain, the Netherlands, Switzerland and the USA will be holding lectures on these topics on 30 and 31 January 2017. The various live demonstrations of 3D food printing as well as the additive production of prototypes in the breaks of the congress will form a particular highlight of the congress.

Not many themes are currently being as hotly discussed as "3D printing" or "additive production". For this very reason, the congress that is being staged in January parallel to ProSweets Cologne is presenting the opportunities and potential of this new technology for the sweets and snacks industry.

On the first day of the congress, experts from the field of science and industry will give a profound overview of the potential of additive production from mechanical engineering aspects for the production of sweets as well as for the product development of sweets and snacks. Areas of application of this new technology will be presented as well as the different printing techniques and materials. A further important theme is also the economic efficiency of the methods. Furthermore, in addition to the theme "Prototyping", the serial production of parts will also be illustrated. The participants will thus receive well-founded theoretical information as well as various examples of application. Thanks to this practice-oriented programme, the first day of the congress is a "must" for mechanical engineering companies and product developers.

The potential of 3D printing for customer-specific products and the future serial production will be presented on the second day of the event. Renowned food printing experts will give a detailed overview on the current status of development, areas of applications, printing materials and methods such as extrusion and powder bed fusion printing and explain the significance of this still young technology for the future.

The congress begins on Monday, 30 January 2017 at 10:30 a.m. and ends on Tuesday, 31 January 2017 at 1:45 p.m. It is being held in the Congress Centre East of Koelnmesse that has direct access to the ProSweets Cologne and ISM, the world's largest trade fair for sweets and snacks.
