IT is networking the bakery trade at südback Stuttgart

A smartphone or a tablet will become an essential tool for bakers and confectioners during südback (23 - 26 September 2017). Digitalisation and electronic data processing will be one of the major trends at the trade fair, whether for oven control, pricing or ordering.

The café 4.0 does not need paper or pens: orders can be taken and receipts can be printed after payment via Bluetooth using networked cash registers.
südback pays greater attention to the topic of „networking“. Continuous recording and analysis of the data supplied by island solutions offers important business control potential. Modern software platforms enable decentralised access and data evaluations in real time.

ERP control systems

Visitors to südback in Stuttgart can look for a reliable and flexible system basis for ERP/merchandise control systems and cash register systems with corresponding interface options. Mobile data retrieval methods or evaluations for short-term control of production and personnel will be topics along with recording of consumption patterns at südback.

The trade fair will also feature practical tools which bakers and confectioners can use to adapt to customer requirements: for example cashless, mobile payment, online pre-orders or delivery services.

Paradigm shift in the bakery industry

Together with the support of the industry, the Regional Association of Guilds of Württemberg Bakers and the Academy of the German Bakery Trade in Southwest Germany have compiled a colourful programme relating to hot topics such as the shortage of skilled workers, resource conservation and customer retention for the Bakers' Trend Forum during südback 2022. The event will be supplemented by trend talks, practical demonstrations and discussion panels. "Of course, there will also be enough time for personal discussions during the Bakers' Trend Forum. We will have plenty to discuss after such a long period of social distancing when meetings were not possible at trade fairs or exhibitions," said Tobias Pfaff, Head of the Academy of the German Bakery Trade in Southwest Germany. Bernd Kütscher, his colleague from the Academy in Weinheim, added: "We are currently experiencing enormous changes on the market. Some raw materials are sold out and prices have risen substantially. Energy costs have rocketed and some companies can barely afford to pay them. The shortage of personnel has never been so severe and customers are making savings wherever possible." (more…)
