The Nuremberg Metropolitan Region is the centre for numerous world market-leaders – also when it comes to the medical technology segment. It is therefore only logical that a new trade fair tailor-made to the theme is being held specifically for the medical technology sector in Nuremberg from 2017. The basis of this positive development is the existing cooperation between NürnbergMesse and the Forum MedTech Pharma, the largest network for the health industry in Germany and Europe.
For Dr. Roland Fleck and Peter Ottmann, the CEOs of the NürnbergMesse Group, the new event format is sending out an important signal to the business and industrial decision-makers: “The world medical technology market is continuing to develop positively, its heart is beating in the Nuremberg Metropolitan Region. Positioning a new fair here for the manufacture of medical technology products is a consistent step.”
The European medical technology market alone is currently estimated at over 70 billion Euro, in global terms, industry experts put the market volume at 220 billion Euro. Within Europe, in turn, the German companies from this industrial sector are of considerable significance: Each year over 12,000 companies with around 200,000 employees generate total turnover of around 28 billion Euro. On top of this: the extremely well-established “Medizin Innovativ – MedTech Summit” congress provides an outstanding basis for an independent trade fair.
The Managing Director of Forum MedTech Pharma e.V., Dr. Thomas Feigl, sees this as a consistent development: “Since 2008, within the framework of our congress, we have been working outstandingly well with NürnbergMesse. With over 1,000 visitors and around 100 exhibitors, this event is very well established. The clear feedback from the industry, scientific sector and key multiplicators is reason for us to be very confident that in future Nuremberg will represent a permanent fixture for the medical technology sector in the trade fair calendar.”

Details on the fair name and the event’s specific dates in the 2nd quarter of 2017 will be officially announced within the framework of the “MedTech Summit 2016” on 15 June 2016 in Nuremberg. MedtecLIVE: joint venture confirmed by German Federal Cartel Office
