27 October 2015Eisenwarenmesse: “eCommerce is the talk of the town”
Themes such as the rapidly growing B2B online marketplaces or questions on 'Industry 4.0' are increasingly determining the dialogue of the market partners. As an international communication platform, EISENWARENMESSE - INTERNATIONAL HARDWARE FAIR COLOGNE is picking up on these aspects and together with the IFH Cologne is initiating a brief study entitled "B2B Marketplaces 2016 - what is really comes down to."

"The online trade is gaining more and more significance. It is the top theme of the hardware industry, which brings with it major challenges," said Christoph Werner, member of the board and Vice President Trade Fair Management of Koelnmesse GmbH. "As the international meeting place of the industry, we want to offer our exhibitors and trade visitors orientation and concentrated information. The brief study that is being carried out in cooperation with the IFH Cologne is the first step here." EISENWARENMESSE - INTERNATIONAL HARDWARE FAIR COLOGNE offers further opportunities to gain comprehensive information in the scope of its own Theme Day on the Sunday of the trade fair and in an eCommerce arena. A lecture programme on the opportunities and risks of eCommerce as well as presentations by online suppliers will shed light on the theme from a wide range of angles.
eCommerce is the talk of the town, however there are relatively few experiential values for the hardware industry. In order to be able to deliver important cognitions from the dealers' point of view, Koelnmesse and the IFH Cologne is initiating the brief study "B2B Marketplaces 2016 - what it really comes down to" at the beginning of November. Around 60,000 international specialist dealers and industry buyers will be contacted in the course of the study." "In the B2B environment, the dealers and the manufacturers are called upon to perhaps take more advantage of the digitalisation. Both - manufacturers and dealers - have to examine individually what form the strategy should take on: An own online shop, marketplaces or both?" explained Boris Hedde, Executive Director of the IFH Cologne.
The brief study will be presented on the eCommerce Theme Day at EISENWARENMESSE - INTERNATIONAL HARDWARE FAIR COLOGNE. For dealers and manufacturers from the hardware sector, the cognitions are to offer support in taking decisions regarding the theme of eCommerce. Featuring lectures by online experts, the Theme Day offers further information for instance on online trade security or on the 'Do's and Don'ts for beginners. The lecture programme is currently being finalised. Furthermore, the Theme Day will be accompanied by trade fair participations of online suppliers such as, mercateo, nexMart, Procato and Toolineo. This will enable the exhibitors and trade visitors of EISENWARENMESSE - INTERNATIONAL HARDWARE FAIR COLOGNE to engage in direct dialogues with the suppliers and compare the individual platforms with each other.
EISENWARENMESSE - INTERNATIONAL HARDWARE FAIR COLOGNE is being staged in Cologne from 6 to 8 March 2016.
