This year the BAU Congress China in Bejing register a rising number of visitors.
In July the running time was extended from two to three days and, because of the rising number of exhibitors, BAU Congress China moved for the first time into the halls of the China National Convention Center. That necessary move into the halls is also reflected in the figures: 71 exhibitors from China and Europe took part on 4,000 square meters of space (gross). As such exhibition space has more than tripled within a year.

4,511 trade visitors ensured a new visitor record (2015: 3023). The congress program, featuring highly respected speakers from China and around the world, attracted packed audiences on all three days—the themes addressed were: “Urban strategies”, “Project development and implementation” and “Smart building technology”. The congress is an information and networking platform at which experts, exhibitors and visitors not only discuss the demands of the Chinese construction sector, but also present solutions.

The 4511 trade visitors from 22 countries were made up primarily of architects, engineers, investors, urban developers, real estate experts and students. They benefited this year, for the first time, from three days (up from two days) of information on high-quality, sustainable solutions for the Chinese market. “The record in visitor numbers, the quality of the trade visitors and above all the potential in the visitor structure confirmed to us that again this year we have delivered the right content for the questions facing the Chinese construction industry,” explained Mirko Arend, Deputy Business Unit Director at Messe München and Exhibition Director of BAU in Munich. “Presented at BAU Congress China are high-quality solutions in planning and construction, tailored specifically to the problems being faced in the Chinese market,” continued Mirko Arend. As in the last two years, the trade visitors came mainly from China, and the number of visitors from outside China rose again.

By extending the running time of BAU Congress China from two to three days, it was also possible to put on an extended congress program. The first day of the congress focused on the theme of urban development. The focus of the second day was on project development. For the first time a series of two speakers took to the rostrum in tandem – an architect and a project developer—to report on a joint project. This was an opportunity to compare international approaches with Chinese practice. The last day of the congress was dedicated to the theme of technology in construction. Exhibitor-specific themes such as lighting, building automation, transport technology (lifts, escalators), smart buildings and access and security were also covered and could then be followed up in the exhibition.

Flanking the congress was an exhibition covering 4,000 square meters of space, on which mainly Chinese companies and many companies with an international background showcased their offerings. Again many BAU exhibitors were among them, for example, the door and gate manufacturer Hörmann, who is also the official industry partner of BAU Congress China. Because of the high level of demand from exhibitors, the exhibition space was moved for the first time into the halls of the China National Convention Center.
