Once again international exhibitors are presenting the complete range covering the planning, construction and maintenance of gardens, parks and green spaces. In 2016, around 1,400 exhibitors as well as over 67,000 trade visitors are expected. The honorary sponsor is the Bundesverband Garten-, Landschafts- und Sportplatzbau (BGL, Federal Association of Horticulture, Landscaping and Sports Facilities).
Successfully into the next round
Stefan Dittrich, Director Exhibitions GaLaBau, is delighted with the positive start for the next GaLaBau: “I have the feeling that everyone from the green sector would like to be there in 2016. With so long to go before the fair opens, the number of applications submitted by the exhibitors is exceptionally high – and is indeed the case in all the major segments. The companies from the plants and plant parts section along with the construction and maintenance machinery manufacturers have this time secured their places at GaLaBau very early. The same applies for international exhibitors. GaLaBau is the meeting place for Europe's green sector.”
Gardening industry is prospering
And the European gardening, horticulture and landscaping industry is doing well. According to the European Landscape Contractors Association (ELCA), in Europe there are currently approximately 89,600 horticulture/landscape gardening companies. In the past few years this number has risen by 20 per cent. In total, around 395,000 people are employed in the green industry and generate annual turnover of around 30 billion Euro.
GaLaBau in detail
At GaLaBau around 50 per cent of the exhibitors are presenting construction and maintenance machinery, while around 30 per cent are showing construction materials and about 20 per cent covering special segments such as playground equipment, city/street furniture or golf course construction and maintenance. The trade visitors mainly come from the green and open space construction sector and other contractors, they are buyers from cities and municipalities, local authorities, motorized appliance retailers/agricultural machinery retailers, landscape architects as well as representatives from the housing industry along with schools, greenkeepers, managers and operators of golf courses, camp sites and other contractors.
Meeting place for the green sector
From 14 to 17 September 2016, the exhibition centre Nuremberg will once again be dominated by the colour green. Then GaLaBau, International Trade Fair for Urban Green and Open Spaces, will be opening its doors for the 22nd time.
