The Highlight Event of the Automation Industry – SPS Anniversary Edition

Despite the currently tense economic situation, the platform for the automation industry once again drew numerous exhibitors and trade visitors to Nuremberg at the end of 2019. Attendees were particularly impressed by the high level of innovation and the sheer number of practical solutions presented by exhibitors.

At this 30th edition of the SPS, a total of 1,585 exhibitors presented their latest products and solutions to a highly qualified trade audience. Further, theyprovided information on current trends and innovations in the accompanying program of product presentations and talks. In fact, the number of exhibitors with their own booths was bigger than ever before. “The SPS certainly supports the automation industry: It provides an opportunity for valuable interaction with trade visitors and industry players and attracts representatives from the trade press who attend to find out about the latest trends and innovations, and discuss them with the exhibitors face-to-face,” stated Hans-Jürgen Hilscher, President and CEO at Hilscher GesellschaftfürSystemautomationmbH.

An analysis of the exhibition clearly demonstrates the event’s international importance: Exhibitors from a total of 45 countries attended. After Germany, most of these came from China, Italy, Switzerland, and Austria. The 63,708 trade visitors came from 90 countries, with 26% of these coming from outside Germany.

Results-driven and satisfied trade visitors

Trade visitors attended the exhibition with one primary objective: to find out about product innovations and trends and engage with other experts. 94% of visitors plan to attend SPS again. Martin Buchwitz, Managing Director at Packaging Valley Germany e.V., participated in the exhibition in 2019: “The SPS is, and will remain, the highlight event of the entire automation industry. Nowhere else can you find such a concentrated yet compact collection of people, companies, media representatives, and technologies relating to automation.”

The accompanying analysis provides additional detailed information on the structure of the exhibitors and attendees at the 2019 exhibition.
