Heading in a new direction

New focus for Motek and Bondexpo: Private trade fair organizer P. E. Schall gives a preview of the future of the trade fair landscape in the field of industrial automation.

The international trade fair Motek is the world’s leading event in the fields of production and assembly automation, feed technology and material flow, streamlining through handling technology, and industrial handling
In the world rankings for technically oriented trade fairs, the events of P. E. Schall either occupy the pole position (Control, Motek with Bondexpo), or take second place (Fakuma, Blechexpo with Schweisstec). But these globally esteemed trade fairs not only need to be kept on course, they have to be focused on key issues to an ever greater extent in the future as well, and expanded with regard to internationalism and the number of participating exhibitors and expert visitors – especially in light of the fact that upcoming expansion of the Stuttgart Exhibition Centre in the years 2017 and 2018 will present entirely new opportunities for exhibition hall layouts and floor plans (infrastructure, hall 10, west entrance foyer).

Motek and Bondexpo were already able to profit from these developments in 2015. Although hall 1 was entirely unavailable, this permitted incorporation of both rows of halls on an equal footing, namely 3, 5, 7 and 9 as well as 4, 6 and 8 (and 10 in the near future), making it possible to implement a block-like trade fair layout. And thus a long-cherished desire of P. E. Schall GmbH & Co. KG and the exhibitors has been fulfilled – the flow of visitors can be much better guided and distributed, thus avoiding bottlenecks at the admission doors and during consultation with the visitors at the booths. A continuous and uniform flow of expert visitors through the exhibition halls increased exhibitor satisfaction already at Motek 2015, and must be seen as a basic building block for further growth.

Motek launches user-oriented “Application Road” structure

But this is just one side of the “added value coin”, because the new trade fair floor plan and layout permit even more consistent alignment to process sequences as they prevail in all industry sectors. The Motek international trade fair for production and assembly automation will be the first event to be structured as an “application road” in the future. In plain English, this means that several halls will serve as a sort of “visual central axis” in which manufacturers of special machines, assembly systems, turnkey systems, robots and other basic elements, as well as system integrators, will be located. Manufacturers and distributors of subsystems, equipment, modules and components will be grouped around this axis.

Focus on Efficient Business Communication Between Exhibitors and Expert Visitors

Depending on their information requirements, this will make it possible for expert visitors to approach their core issues directly, either from the “inside” (beginning with the application road) or from the “outside” (beginning with important components), as well as to gather information concerning relevant alternatives to the right and left. The exhibitors will thus be provided with the advantage of a highly direct approach to their target groups, and the expert visitors will save time and legwork by being able to concentrate on the essentials.
As the world’s leading trade fair for industrial handling, even greater significance is allocated to Motek due to the fact that automation solutions are not only used in production and assembly, but rather in all industries where robotics, handling systems and material flow systems are required as well.

Schall launches 2016 expansion offensive

In the spirit of a further rounding out of the process sequence in the field of assembly technology, the complementary Bondexpo trade fair will also undergo decisive changes, which involve above all expansion of the bonding technology issue, as well as joining and fastening technologies for alternative (hybrid) and new (composite) materials. And thus the time-tested process sequence trade fair duo including Motek and Bondexpo will have two emphases in the future, in order to be able to effectively support users in all of the process steps associated with industrial handling, as well as joining and fastening technology.
