IFEMA is organising World Climate Summit

The exhibition company IFEMA Madrid works full steam ahead, and with the involvement of all the teams and technical areas taking part in the production of the World Climate Summit, which takes place in Madrid from 2-13 December 2019. This major event will occupy more than 100,000 square metre and host 25,000 attendees from 200 countries.

After Chile withdrew from UN Climate Summit, Madrid agreed to organise the event within a very short period of time.
The capacity and versatility of the Feria de Madrid venue will enable this summit to be hosted in tandem with the schedule of events planned for the month of December at IFEMA.

On November 5th IFEMA was visited by the United Nations delegation in their first technical visit to Feria de Madrid facilities. The venue’s capacity, with 200,000 square metre of covered exhibition space, and the versatility of its spaces, including the North Convention Centre, have enabled IFEMA to take on the challenge of holding this great event, which will occupy more than 100,000 square metre, half of the complex’s total area, including the convention and meeting areas, and accommodate 25,000 visitors from 200 different countries.

The organisation of the Climate Summit, on which IFEMA is already working at full capacity to offer the best conditions adapted to the project’s strict requirements, not only constitutes an organisational challenge, in that it will be carried out in just 18 days, whereas it usually requires at least 18 months, but will also have a considerable impact on the revitalisation of all sectors in the host city, as well as on the international image of Madrid and Spain, which will capture the world media's attention over the course of the event.

COP25 will occupy a total of six halls and the entire North Convention Centre, as well as the meeting rooms located above the halls, in addition to the rooms that make up the project inside the halls.

The design that is being prepared will enable IFEMA to achieve its goal of maintaining the programme of fairs and events, most of them leisure-oriented and aimed at the general public, as has long been the custom in December.

Consequently, the schedules for FERIARTE, from 16 to 24 November, IFEMA Madrid Horse Week and Retromóvil Madrid, which will be held from 29 November to 1 December, and ALMONEDA, from 11 to 15 December, in addition to the Game of Thrones and Tutankhamun exhibitions, Ice Circus 2, Magician Yunke's magic show, HANGAR 52 and musical concerts all remain unchanged.

Assembly work for the Summit is scheduled to begin on 17 November, with a total of 10 days for completion of the project.
