The Cool Logistics Asia Conference will set a spotlight on modern demand chain concepts including multi-channel retail and e-commerce strategies.
Asian food import markets are no different from other markets, at least in one sense: consumers are becoming more demanding. Food quality is paramount and must be supported by quality logistics, food safety and convenience. Renowned for his first class supply chain expertise from production to in-store replenishment, Simon Pearson, founder and Managing Director of supply chain consultancy Simon Pearson and Associates, is well qualified to join the speaker platform at the 2nd Cool Logistics Asia Conference, taking place September 7 at Asia World Expo.

Multi-channel retail and e-commerce strategies

Shanghai-based Pearson will discuss whether modern demand chain concepts including multi-channel retail and e-commerce strategies can be reconciled with the more traditional trade lane approach developed by international transport companies such as ocean carriers and airlines. The focused one-day conference will provide ocean, air and intermodal carriers, food manufacturers, transport and equipment providers, ports and freight forwarders with unique insights into the latest trends in Asian perishable supply chain operations, including specific commodity and logistics market analyses.

Growth driver

Whether it is imports, exports or domestic consumption, Asia remains the dynamic growth driver for the international fresh produce trade. Collective fresh fruit imports by key Asian markets from all sources both within and outside Asia have expanded by some 250 per cent over the past 20 years, reaching almost ten million tonnes in 2014, according to the 2015 edition of the Asiafruit Congress Statistics Handbook. Meanwhile, exports to all destinations – mostly in and around Asia – have increased 350 per cent to nine million tonnes over the past two decades. China remains the region’s growth engine. In 2014 alone, China’s fresh fruit imports increased by some 24 per cent, led by double-digit growth in banana and dragon fruit imports. But other markets across Asia such as India, South Korea and Vietnam are also seeing impressive year-on-year increases in fresh fruit imports.

Back in September

Exhibiting at ASIA FRUIT LOGISTICA offers companies the access to the opportunities in these rapidly emerging markets. Asia’s only dedicated fresh fruit and vegetable trade show is back on 7-9 September this year at AsiaWorld-Expo in Hong Kong.

Strong interest

A record 9,200 trade visitors from 70 different countries attended ASIA FRUIT LOGISTICA 2015. More than two-thirds of these visitors came from Asia, demonstrating the strong interest and engagement in the show from trade professionals across the region.
