Sa- rah-Jayne Williams, Leiterin Smart Mobility bei Ford Europa, stellt auf der zweitägigen Convention SHIFT Automotive in Berlin die neusten Forschungsergebnisse von Ford vor. In ihrem Vortrag „Reimagining Urban Transport: Smart Vehicles in a Smart World“ am 11. September wird sie erläu- tern, wie Daten zur Transforma- tion des städtischen Verkehrs bei- tragen können. Sarah-Jayne Williams leitet seit September 2017 das neu geschaf- fene Ford Smart Mobility Inno- vation Office in London, wo sie die Entwicklung neuer urbaner Mobilitätslösungen verantwor- tet. Im Fokus ihrer Arbeit stehen die sich ändernden Mobilitätsbe- dürfnisse von Stadtbewohnern in europäischen Großstädten. Vor ihrem Wechsel zu Ford arbeitete Williams 14 Jahre lang beim inter- nationalen Consulting-Unterneh- men BearingPoint, wo sie zuletzt als Partnerin mit Schwerpunkt Automotive und Digital tätig war. Davor leitete Sarah-Jayne Williams Geschäfts- und Technologietrans- formationsprogramme von Mo- torola. SHIFT Automotive findet am 10. und 11. September 2019 auf der IFA in Berlin statt. Hier kommen Start-ups und Technologieriesen, Automobilhersteller und Stadtpla- ner zusammen, um zu erforschen, wie die neuesten Technologien unsere Lebens-, Arbeits- und Fahr- weise bestimmen. Neben Sarah-Jayne Williams spre- chen weitere hochkarätige Bran- chenexperten auf der SHIFT Au- tomotive. Dazu zählen Francesca Bria, derzeit noch Chief Technolo- gy Officer von Barcelona, Zipcar- Gründer Robin Chase, Jay Ward, Creative Director der Cars-Fran- chise bei Pixar Animation Studios und Automobilberater sowie wei- teren Experten von Fujitsu, Axa, Daimler’s Smart Lab, 2getthere, Easymile, Celeris, der Singularity University und vielen anderen. SHIFT Automotive wurde ge- meinsam von der IFA Berlin und der Geneva International Motor- show (GIMS) ins Leben gerufen. Leitgedanke der zweitägigen Fachveranstaltung ist, dass die Zukunft der Mobilität nicht von den neuesten Concept Cars, son- dern von menschlichen Faktoren bestimmt wird. Deshalb fokus- siert die Tagung auf Fragestellun- gen wie: Können wir intelligente Mobilitäts-as-a-Service Lösungen entwickeln, die nicht nur für die Industrie, sondern auch für den Einzelnen und die Gesellschaft funktionieren? Werden nachhal- tige Technologien das Huhn-Ei- Problem von Nachfrage und Inf- rastruktur überwinden? Und was passiert in einer Welt der autono- men Fahrzeuge mit der Freude am Fahren? With Artificial Intelligence and high-performance calculation systems, the foundation is being laid today for the future of socie- ty. At the IFA⁺Summit, global thought leaders discuss scenarios such as new intelligent technolo- gies which will change society and our lives. Part of the final programme: Mark Surman, Executive Director for the Mozilla Foundation, and Jerry M. Chow, Senior Manager for the Quantum System Technol- ogy group at IBM. Internet is for everyone To Mark Surman, the Internet is the most valuable resource for the public. The Executive Director for the Mozilla Foundation wants to ensure that it remains a source of information for everyone in fu- ture too. At the IFA⁺ Summit, he is speaking in the cluster “Society” about the essential role that Arti- ficial Intelligence (AI) plays in so- ciety. “Today, AI is all around us -- filtering our news, recommend- ing who we date, and making de- cisions about our finances and our health. We need that AI to put humans and humanity first, espe- cially when its used by large con- sumer tech platforms.” To achieve this, companies must take more responsibility, according to Mark Surman. Researching the next generation of high-performance calculation systems is Jerry M. Chow from IBM. Under the title “How to Ctrl- Alt-Del This Quantum Comput- er?”, Jerry M. Chow explains on 9 September the next big steps in computer systems and machine learning: quantum technology. The Senior Manager for the Quan- tum System Technology group is speaking at the IFA⁺ Summit about how existing quantum systems are already being leveraged and gives an outlook on their sheer endless possibilities for the fu- ture. IFA Future Forum In addition to the impulse speech- es by Mark Surman and Jerry M. Chow, the programme of the IFA⁺ Summit includes numerous renowned experts. The future forum at IFA, the world’s leading trade show for consumer elec- tronics and home appliances, pro- vides inspiring talks across two days in four clusters: “Society”, “Interaction”, “Intelligence” and “Experience”.
