Payam Zadeh, General Man- ager EMEA at JCM Global – one of the world’s lead- ing transaction technologies suppliers for the banking, re- tail, kiosk, vending and gam- ing industries – summarises recent retail cash handling changes and points out the JCM solutions to these new challenges. Over the past decade, there’s been a surge in the number of self-checkout terminals and assisted checkout lanes. This is especially true for businesses where direct cash handling can cause hygiene or security issues, like a bak- ery where one person han- dles products and another handles cash, but is evident across all retail, where it creates a more streamlined, convenient and faster feeling service. Technology has to keep up with these new demands – but what is actually needed for automated cash handling? First, retailers need fast pay- in pay-out sequences to lim- it queues and increase the number of customers who can pass through a single checkout. Additionally, the tech must be capable of multi-denomi- nation note recycling, as well as having a high acceptance of street-grade notes and a high-capacity cash box, which reduces the frequency with which cash is removed. There are several cash-han- dling solutions that meet the criteria, and which is best de- pends on your business’ spe- GM½G RIIHW .'1´W SJJIVMRKW for small and medium solu- tions are the UBA Pro-RT ™ and UBA Pro-RQ ™ recyclers. Both of these offer supe- rior sensors for increased acceptance of street-grade notes and a compact, ser- vice-friendly design. The UBA Pro-RT ™ offers two recycling drums, each 30-notes, while the UBA Pro-RQ ™ has four. For larger operations, JCM offers the MRX ™ modular banknote recycler, which can accept two notes per second, with an escrow capacity of 30 notes and recycling mod- ules of two drums, each of 60 notes. And, since MRX ™ is a modular system, it has the ability to handle up to eight denomination if necessary. A capacity of approximately 2,200 banknotes further en- sures retailers won’t have to worry about always switch- ing out the cashbox.
