In der Einzelteilfertigung und speziell im Formenbau, wo oft sehr enge Toleranzen benötigt werden, ist dieser Ansatz hinsichtlich seiner Wirtschaftlichkeit nur beschränkt anwendbar. An dieser Stelle kann die fühlende Maschine mit der entwickelten Kompensationslö- sung zum Einsatz kommen und als Assistenzsystem für den Maschi- nenbediener dienen. Die fühlende Maschine stellt zudem einen neu- en „Enabler“ für die Entwicklung weiterer Prozessüberwachungs- und Regelungssysteme in der Zer- spanung dar. Ein Ausblick: Wie sieht die weite- re Roadmap aus, welche Ideen für eine Weiterentwicklung der „füh- lenden“ Werkzeugmaschine haben Sie in der Schublade? Wir sind in den vergangenen Jah- ren mit dem Thema „fühlende Maschine“ auf sehr großes Inter- esse seitens der Industrie gesto- ßen. Seit drei Jahren arbeiten wir mit einem großen Maschinenher- steller an der Entwicklung von zwei weiteren fühlenden Bear- beitungszentren in Kombination mit der vorgestellten Kompensa- tionslösung. Künftig möchten wir insbesondere die Anwendungs- möglichkeiten der fühlenden Ma- schinen erweitern. Es wird in Rich- tung Überwachung und Regelung der Prozessstabilität, Im-Prozess- Qualitätsbewertung, Werkzeug- zustand-Überwachung etc. gehen, selbstverständlich alles autonom. Condition monitoring and predictive main- tenance based on data analyses are impor- tant aspects of Industry 4.0. They offer users extensive potential for efficiency en- hancements. The same applies for simula- tions, economic resource utilisation and other new options opened up by analys- ing the enormous quantities of data from production operations. New solutions for this are emerging on the market every day. “The EMO Hannover is the ideal platform for obtaining a comprehensive overview of the production, consultancy and service- oriented business models so far available, as made possible by Big Data and the net- working of the entire value creation chain,” says Carl Martin Welcker, General Commis- sioner of the EMO Hannover 2017. Examples of best practice like these illus- trate the possibilities inherent in digitisa- tion and networking of production opera- tions, particularly for small and mid-tier companies (SMEs). These ought to give this target group a shake-up, because they fre- quently overestimate the risks of Industry 4.0, like IT security or also the cost factor. This, at least, is the result of a study con- ducted by researchers at the German Aca- demic Society for Production Engineering (WGP). Last year, they unveiled their “Posi- tion paper on Industry 4.0” to the public, and warned that only one in ten of Germa- ny’s manufacturing companies was inten- sively addressing this issue in an operative context. The WGP’s stance is intended as a wake-up call for the SMEs, urging them to make a change. The EMO as the premier in- novation platform for production technolo- gy is the ideal place for taking this wake-up call on board, and inspiring users by means of practical solutions. Not only Industry 4.0, but additive manu- facturing as well, is meanwhile a much-dis- cussed topical issue among international production specialists. Due to rising levels of interest in this technology throughout the metalworking sector, the EMO’s no- menclature has been expanded for 2017 to include four new sectors: machines and systems, materials, additional systems, and components and services for additive pro- cesses. Traditional vendors are also posi- tioning themselves in this field with hybrid systems.
