And they will feature prominently in Japan’s Partner Country show- case at this year’s CeBIT. The Japan External Trade Or- ganization (JETRO) will host the Japan Pavilion at the CeBIT 2017. The massive Japan Pavilion will feature 118 companies and organ- izations, occupying 7,200 square metres of floor space and show- casing technologies from Partner Country Japan to a global audi- ence. The booths will cover everything from infrastructure and facto- ries to professional life and daily living, with presenting compa- nies active in fields ranging from medical care and welfare, agricul- ture and construction to music, games and sports offering their unique technologies, products services and cutting-edge solu- tions and ideas characterized by the diversity of the Society 5.0 concept. In addition to the Pavilion, JETRO will also host four events during CeBIT, including a symposium and a networking event. The events will also serve to assist Japanese businesses by support- ing the cultivation of overseas sales channels and the creation of IoT-related business models in a variety of fields. On March 20, the “Japan Sum- mit” symposium jointly organized by JETRO and Deutsche Messe, is designed to showcase Japan’s approach to the new possibilities IoT offers by exhibiting successful cases of Japanese-German coop- eration in related fields. An event called “Business networking” will take place on March 21. The net- working event is dedicated to small and medium-sized firms ex- hibiting at the Japan Pavilion and German companies interested in establishing business relations with them. Members of a trade mission from Japan consisting of Japanese SMEs to the CeBIT fair will also join this event. JETRO is aiming to foster contacts and cre- ate business opportunities for Japanese and German companies following an agreement reached by national leaders in 2015. Japan Night On March 22, the “Japan Night” will be a networking opportunity for overseas companies and Japa- nese companies presenting at the Japan Pavilion. Furthermore, Jap- anese exhibitors pitch their ideas to visitors with presentations on March 20 – 24 in Hall 4 and Hall 12. The showcase mounted by Ja- pan’s corporate and institutional ambassadors will be a “shining testament” to the country’s inno- vative power and progressive out- look, CeBIT organizer Deutsche Messe announces. CeBIT will feature numerous Jap- anese VIPs. For example, Japan’s Prime Minister, Shinzō Abe, has received a personal invitation from German Chancellor Ange- la Merkel to join her in formally opening the show. Similarly, Pro- fessor Hiroshi Ishiguro, one of the world’s leading lights in ro- botics and the director of Osaka University’s Intelligent Robotics Laboratory, will be heading to Hanover with his robotic twin. In addition, the keynote speak- er lineup at the CeBIT Global Conferences includes industry experts Minoru Usui and Shoei Yamana. Global Conferences The CeBIT Global Conferences also include an appearance by the Japanese-American entre- preneur Kei Shimada. Since 2012, Shimada has been a top-level ex- ecutive at a company, where he oversees the development of new solutions around wearables, neural technology, locational big data and crisis management in- frastructures.
