EUROGUSS 2018

••• 10••• Messewelten L ightweight construction will play a prominent role through- out every section of Hannover Messe 2018 (23 to 27 April, 2018), but the Industrial Supply show in Hall 5 will serve as the primary showcase for this hot topic. Here, solution-seekers can head for the Integrated Lightweight Plaza: a new marketplace for lightweight materials, processes and solu- tions across the entire industrial spectrum. The Plaza will feature a Speakers’ Corner and a central presentation area. 14 national associations and organizations are contributing their expertise to the Integrated Lightweight Plaza , among them Composites Germany, the Fraun- hofer Lightweight Design Alliance and the Lightweight Design Initia- tive sponsored by Germany’s Fed- eral Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy. “Representatives of numerous sectors – e. g. the automotive industry, rail vehicle construction, logistics, electron- ics, mechanical and plant engi- neering, aerospace and medical technology – come to Hannover in search of lightweight design so- lutions,” says Olaf Daebler, Global Director Industrial Supply within the Hannover Messe team. Complete overview “We are committed to expand- ing this exhibit category. The In- tegrated Lightweight Plaza will offer more than 200,000 visitors a complete overview of materials and processes tailored to specific applications.” The new Plaza in Hall 5 embraces the entire pro- cess chain: plant engineering, production automation, design, materials, functional integration, modelling, simulation, recycling, as well as measuring and testing. The aim is to make the Integrated Lightweight Plaza as vivid and ac- cessible as possible for the visiting public. The exhibits, lectures and product demonstrations will be geared to real-world requirements. This is important in view of the fact that potential users are still unfamil- iar with many lightweight design solutions. One example concerns composites. “In the automotive sector nearly all vehicles contain composite components. Aircraft and boats are made largely of fib- er-reinforced plastics. And wind turbine blades would be impos- sible without composites,” main- tains Dr. Elmar Witten, spokes- man of Composites Germany and Managing Director of the Rein- forced Plastics Federation (AVK). “Numerous new applications are emerging, above all in the con- struction sector – e.g. for bridges, cladding components and com- plete structures.” A new edition of the Lightweight Construction Guide will be pub- lished in 2018. The goal is to in- form visitors about other exhibi- tors – distributed throughout Hannover Messe – that have made meaningful contributions in the area of lightweight design. The most important re- presentatives of the industry will again be present at the Stuttgart Trade Fair Centre on 21 to 24 May 2019. The exhibitors, representatives of partner asso- ciations BVMF, VDMA, VDW and VDWF and Messe Stuttgart jointly decided on setting the time frame in late spring 2019. The dates also provide exhibitors and visitors to Moulding Expo 2019 with new ways to connect to an industry that has many overlaps within the tool, pattern and mould making sector. On 21 to 23 May 2019, the third edition of Moulding Expo will run concurrently with the Automotive Show organised by the British UKi Media & Events Ltd. combining five trade fairs from the automotive supply industry under one roof. The focus of Moul- ding Expo is on tool, pattern and mould making with injection moulding, die-cast moulding, cas- ting, stamping and forming tools, as well as various pattern-making and prototyping methods. Compo- nents and accessories, machine tools, processing tools, measuring technology and special machines, software, and systems and services for tool cons- truction and pattern and mould making round off the scope of the trade fair.
