•••8••• Messewelten Formnext: New VDMA partnership Formnext, international exhibi- tion and conference on the next generation of manufacturing technologies, and the Working Group Additive Manufacturing within Germany’s industry federa- tion of mechanical engineers (VDMA) have entered into a new partnership. In it, the Working Group Additive Manufacturing will serve as the exhibition’s hon- orary sponsor. This partnership will enable Formnext to further expand its expertise in specific ar- eas of the relevant process chains in additive manufacturing and other cutting-edge industrial pro- duction technologies. This year’s exhibition is scheduled to take place on 14 – 17 November in Frankfurt amMain. The key topic areas in this coopera- tion are to include various levels of training; knowledge transfer; and the advancement of technologies, application methods, and stand- ards and norms. “We’ve been in close contact with the Working Group Additive Manufacturing since 2015, and the in-depth dis- cussions we’ve had have revealed a broad range of potential areas wherewe can collaborate,” reports Sascha F. Wenzler, Vice President Formnest at event organizer Mesa- go Messe Frankfurt GmbH. Among other topics, the new partners will be focusing on further efforts to promote the use of additive tech- nologies in industrial production. Aluminum USA moves to Nashville Taking place for the second time on 25 and 26 October, Aluminum USA will showcase the potential of the American aluminium industry. Fol- lowing the 2015 premiere in Detroit, the trade show is moving to the Mu- sic City Center in Nashville, Tennes- see, in 2017. Once again, the Alumi- num Association will serve as partner. An extensive supporting program- me will enhance the diverse range of goods and services offered by the exhibitors. Featuring about 200 inter- national exhibitors from the US, Ca- nada and overseas, Aluminum USA in October will cover the industry’s varied deployment and growth op- portunities. More than 2,000 trade visitors, including decision-makers from aluminium manufacturing and processing, distributors and associa- tions are expected to attend the se- cond Aluminum USA trade show. Metav: Theme park Industry 4.0 20th International Exhibition for Metalworking Technologies W ith a theme park Industry 4.0, Metav 2018 – the 20th Inter- national Exhibition for Metalworking Technologies will be held from 20 to 24 February 2018 in the Düsseldorf Exhibition Halls. The 20th International Exhibition for Metalworking Technologies will be continuing the successful concept adopted for the preced- ing event. The thematic expan- sion to incorporate specific areas for quality, additive manufactur- ing, moulding and medical was ac- claimed by exhibitors and visitors alike. Significantly larger area “At the Metav 2016, we intro- duced four new areas to extend our coverage on the entire value added chain themed around pro- duction technology. The area concept was extremely well re- ceived. Our exhibitor survey re- vealed that directly following the conclusion of the 2016 fair nine out of ten exhibitors were intending to par- ticipate in the Metav 2018 as well. So for the Metav 2018 we shall be provid- ing a significantly larger area,” says Dr. Wilfried Schäfer, the VDW’s Execu- tive Director, who’s highly gratified by the concept’s success. Besides the areas for quality, additive manufactur- ing, moulding and medical, the classi- cal keynotes are still comprehensively represented: machine tools, manufac- turing systems, high-precision tools, automated material flow, computer technology, industrial electronics and accessories. The fair will also be spot- lighting the topic of Industry 4.0 with a dedicated theme park. “Under the aegis of the Metav 2018, we shall once again be devoting a sepa- rate keynote focus to the digi- tal transformation,” is how Dr. Schäfer describes the concept for the fair. State-of-the-art manu- facturing solutions “In the case of Industry 4.0, the sense of optimism is almost tan- gible. But in view of the digital transformation, many mid-tier companies are also still looking for new solutional approaches. The Metav 2018 will be offer- ing important food for thought here.” And the congresses and special- ist forums planned to coincide with the fair, featuring examples of best practice, will also provide fresh impetus for state-of-the-art manufacturing solutions at next year’s Metav. More detailed information is available via internet at www.metav. com, the trade fair organizer Messe Düsseldorf announced. With a theme park Industry 4.0, Metav will take place on 20-24 February, 2018.
