••• 7 ••• Messewelten Für einen noch besseren Workflow im Labor Im neuen LabUSER Ausstellerfo- rum erwartet die Besucher der Labvolution ein abwechslungsrei- ches Programm zu den Themen „Workflowoptimierung in der La- borpraxis“, „Digitalisierung – das digitale Labor“ sowie „Emerging Technologies“. Das Forum findet in den Konfe- renzräumen der Halle 19 statt und grenzt damit unmittelbar an die Ausstellung. Das Programm ge- stalten die Aussteller selbst, de- nen die Messe hierfür die Räum- lichkeiten zur Verfügung stellt. „Vom neuen LabUSER Aussteller- forum profitieren Aussteller und Fachbesucher gleichermaßen“, meint Bernd Heinold, Projekt- leiter Labvolution bei der Deut- schen Messe AG. „Der Mehrwert für die Unternehmen ist das ex- klusive Angebot, das sie ihren Gästen über den Standbesuch hi- naus machen können. Die Besu- cher wiederum bekommen nicht nur spannende Einblicke, sondern können auch gezielt an zertifizier- ten Schulungen teilnehmen.“ Das LabUSER Ausstellerforum besteht aus zwei Säulen: Pro- dukt- und Lösungspräsentationen auf der einen Seite, Schulungen und Trainings auf der anderen. Die Unternehmen haben im Lab- USER Ausstellerforum die Chan- ce, Produktinnovationen und Dienstleistungen ausgewählten Fachbesuchern in konzentrierter Atmosphäre zu präsentieren oder Fachbesucher zu unterschied- lichen Themen zu schulen. Die Schulungen, die Unternehmen in diesem Zusammenhang anbieten, sind zum Teil auch zertifiziert. Das heißt: Am Ende erhalten die Teil- nehmer Zertifikate. Einige Unter- nehmen haben bereits zugesagt, dass sie entsprechende Trainings anbieten werden. Die Teilnehmer- zahl pro Schulung ist auf 20 be- grenzt. Ebenfalls geplant sind Impulsvor- träge zu den genannten Themen mit anschließender Diskussions- runde. Die Konferenzräume der Halle 19 seien optimal geeignet für das LabUSER Ausstellerforum, heißt es. Da die Raumkapazitäten jedoch begrenzt sind und einige Timeslots besonders beliebt sein werden, lohnt sich eine schnelle Anmeldung seitens der Unterneh- men. Die Timeslots im LabUSER Ausstellerforum dauern 30 bis 60 Minuten und können an allen drei Messetagen von 10 bis 17 Uhr ge- nutzt werden. Die Räumlichkeiten bieten Platz für Gruppen von zehn bis 50 Personen. Photo: Deutsche Messe From big data to genome editing Biotechnica Forum to cover broad spectrum of current topics and issues in the biotech world A t Labvolution, the Biotechnica Forum will be one of the big attractions for biotechnologists working in industry and science. Featuring a varied programme that ranges from big data to plant biotech- nology and new career opportunities, the Biotechnica Forum runs for all three days of the show and covers a broad spectrum of current topics and issues in the biotech world. The morning session on the first day of the Biotechnica Forum is hosted by an innova- tions network for optical technologies in Lower Saxony, Germany. In a series of short presentations, various approaches and ap- plications will be examined. Topics here in- clude optogenetics and laser microtomy. Another key format forming part of the Biotechnica Forum programme is the Life Science Spotlight Forum, which hosts daily presentations from noon until 2 p.m., high- lighting the innovative work now coming out of the life science industry. On 16 May the topic focuses on the latest develop- ments in bioinformatics, followed by sci- entific insights into alternatives to animal experiments, made possible by 3D cell cul- tures or LuSens assays. In addition, experts will be presenting new approaches aimed at enhancing our understanding of the age- ing process at the molecular genetic level with a view to developing new therapies for age-related diseases. The LSR Spotlight Forum will close with a presentation on the contribution the life science industry is making to the global fight against infec- tious diseases. The afternoon of the first day of the show is all about big data and digitalization. The organizer of this part of the Biotechnica Forum is BIO Deutschland. Dr. Martin Pöhlchen, responsible for digital- ization at BIO Deutschland, will be chairing the discussion throughout the event. Citing actual business case studies, contributors will explore a whole range of different is- sues, including current technical standards and hardware choices, the interfaces used to support communication, the benefits to be derived from the analysis of large quan- tities of heterogeneous data, and situations where paper print-outs are still a necessary part of the laboratory toolkit. On Wednesday 17 May recent developments in plant biotechnology will be discussed at a session hosted by the scientific association Wissenschaftlerkreis Grüne Gentechnik e. V. The title of the symposium is: “Genome ed- iting: new ways forward in animal and plant breeding”. On the agenda here are innova- tive processes for the successful develop- ment and evolution of organisms. In the afternoon, authors will talk about the latest trends at the Science Talk, and share tips and tricks of the trade for laboratory professionals. This is followed by the Sci- ence Slam, when five scientists take to the stage and demonstrate their presentation skills. On the last day of the show, various careers partners offering further training opportunities in biotechnology and chem- istry will provide information about career paths in the natural sciences.
