ISM 2019
••• 7 ••• Messewelten ProSweets Cologne: Packaging for sweets Guiding principle in the sweets industry: Mass-produced goods are out, individuality is in! T he packaging stands in direct context to the product more than any other advertising mate- rial. It generates brand identity and sets trends. So, authentic- ity is particularly important here. This applies all the more since the selection of sweets and snacks is constantly increasing. Sweets and snacks manufacturers, who are looking for more packing de- sign options, will find an extensive range of solutions at ProSweets Cologne, held parallel to ISM in Hall 10.1. The exhibitors at the Co- logne fair grounds know the de- cisive point: Success at the point of sale. Whether the relevant point is aes- thetics, functionality, protection or sustainability: Packaging that convinces through its design is what counts at the point of sale. The significance of the packaging design as a means of distinction has increased strongly over the past years. It is above all the pre- mium brands that strive to appeal to the senses with a clear design, haptic characteristics and strik- ing embellishments directly on the shelves. ProSweets Cologne, held parallel to ISM in Hall 10.1, paves the way for the sweets and snacks manufacturers. The focus is on the selection of colours and materials as well as on the design at the stands of the manufactur- ers of packing materials. The guiding principle in the sweets industry is: Mass-pro- duced goods are out, individuality is in! It is above all the millennials, who pick up products from the snacks and sweets shelves, which suit their personal lifestyle. The more individual the packing, the more likely the young consumers are to pick up the product at the point of sale. The exhibitors will demonstrate what new develop- ments there are in this section – for instance printers that are able to produce customer-specific la- bels for sweets. Thanks to digital printing it will also be possible for small and medium-sized sweets manufacturers to design their products much more creatively. In this way, smaller and medium- sized volumes of high-quality fold- ing boxes can be imprinted on high-performance digital printing machines. Checking prints on products is already a common technology, but control on color and film for pouches is still unknown. QEF develop a vision control system to check prints on film used for vertical bagger machines. In some cases, there must be a match between the right film, printed codes, processed order and products. electronic innovations BV QEF electric innovations BV Oeverweg 2A, 3417 XK MONTFOORT, The Netherlands Phone: +31 (0) 348-434483, E-mail: info@qef.nl Pouch red will be pushed over to the right and pouch blue will continue his way in the loop.
