•••6••• Messewelten Global outlook into furniture production interzum attracts visitors from all over the world and focuses on sustainable raw materials O n 21 May 2019, the future of furniture production and in- terior construction begins again in Cologne. Interzum inspires the global furniture supplier industry. The facts alone speak in favour of this leading international fair, with more than 1,700 exhibitors coming face-to-face with an antic- ipated 70,000 visitors from over 150 countries. Around 80 per cent of them come from abroad. Ex- hibitors present their innovations across 190,000 square metres of exhibition space. Interzum is an opportunity for the supplier industry to reveal its innovative power. Divided in- to three topic areas, the event is organised to make trade fair at- tendance a success, because its structure brings the stakeholders in the value chain into close con- tact – and gives exhibitors and visitors alike a good overview. The largest exhibition area at in- terzum 2019 will be occupied by the “Function & Components” product segment. In Halls 3.2, 4, 5, 7 and 8, the industry will show how customers’ increasing de- mands in the areas of technol- ogy, energy efficiency, comfort and convenience can be fulfilled. These points will be addressed by the product segments of light and lighting systems, semi-finished products for storage, kitchen, of- fice and frame furniture, fittings, locks and furniture components. Even more convenient, individual, digital and connected – these are the expectations for the interiors of the future, and that’s why so- lutions to these requirements will be the focus in the technical and functional components segment. The conservation of resources, sustainable raw materials and cradle-to-cradle concepts – these are but a few of the trends ad- dressed in the Materials & Nature segment in Halls 4.2, 6 and 10.2. This is where a comprehensive presentation of versatile materi- als for furniture design will again be offered, including wood, ve- neer, parquet, interior design and furnishings, decorative surface design, decor papers, laminates, wood-based materials, high-pres- sure laminates, solid surface ma- terials, edge trims, surface treat- ments and finishes, embossing cylinders and sheet metal. Climate-regulating upholstery fabrics, energy-efficient cutting machines for foam materials and leather that make optimal use of materials, weatherproof outdoor fabrics: nowadays, success comes from innovative ideas, high-per- formance materials and ultra- efficient processing by means of advanced technology and ma- chines. In the Textile & Machinery segment in Halls 9, 10.1 and 11, the quality leaders and innovation drivers will again be presenting their latest developments. These include machinery for upholstery and mattress manufacture, uphol- stery materials, upholstery acces- sories, materials for covers, leath- er and adhesives. In 2019, Hall 10.1 will serve as a central connecting hub for the Textile & Machinery segment, reinventing itself in terms of structure. The entire seg- ment is thereby setting standards for a successful future. With this new clustering, the Textile & Ma- chinery themed area is growing even more closely together allow- ing visitors to get an overview. Interzum is where decision makers and trendsetters meet. Photo: Koelnmesse GmbH / Ludolf Dahmen Wo Unternehmen untereinander Informationen weiterreichen Speakers Corner: interzum schafft neue B2B-Plattform für den Wissenstransfer über die Entwicklungen in der Zulieferindustrie Erstmalig gibt es auf der interzum 2019 eine eigene Plattform für den Wissenstransfer von Unter- nehmen zu Unternehmen. Im Rahmen von Speakers Corner ge- ben Aussteller aus allen Angebots- segmenten wertvolle Einblicke in ihre Entwicklungen und schaffen damit einen weiteren wichtigen Wissenstransfer auf der Weltleit- messe der Zulieferindustrie. Über 30 Branchenplayer sind mit an Bord und referieren in kom- pakten 30-Minuten-Vorträgen zu neuen Designs, Innovationen im Bereich Smart Home sowie nachhaltigen Materialien und ressourcenschonenden Verarbei- tungstechniken. Speakers Corner ist täglich geöffnet, die Vorträge werden überwiegend in engli- scher, teilweise auch in deutscher Sprache gehalten. Eine Anmel- dung ist nicht nötig. Dem Design nimmt sich zum Beispiel ein Dekorhersteller an, der im Vortrag „Individualität & Komplexität“ die gestalterische Bandbreite an Designdekoren er- läutert. Ein spanisches Unterneh- men zeigt unter dem Titel „Dress your Ideas“, wie Projekte im Be- reich Architektur und Design, die hohe Ansprüche im Außenbereich erfüllen müssen, verkleidet wer- den können. Bunt wird Speakers Corner am Ende auch: So will ein Farbhersteller ein Gefühl vermit- teln für das Spektrum an Farben, das uns in diesem und kommen- dem Jahr erwartet. Zur entsprechenden Smartness in Speakers Corner tragen Aussteller bei, die demonstrieren, wie heute via Smartphone Möbel bequem geöffnet werden können. Zur In- telligenz im Möbelstück zählen heute auch Entwicklungen, die die innovativste und ausgeklügels- te Technik aus dem Blickfeld ihrer Benutzer verschwinden lassen, sowie Produkte mit einem hohen Maß an Flexibilität. Diese beiden Themen werden aufgegriffen in den Vorträgen „Living the invisib- le“ und „Flexible Büromöbel dank Akku“. Dass intelligente Lösungen auch ökologisch nachhaltig sind, ist für viele Aussteller der interzum längst Standard. Was aber genau dahinter steckt, einzelne Kompo- nenten umweltfreundlich zu pro- duzieren, erläutert unter anderem ein italienisches Unternehmen im Vortrag „How to make Upholste- ry ecofriendly?“ und eine andere Firma in „Sustainability & Green“. Die umweltfreundliche Umset- zung ist eine Herausforderung, die andere ist die verständliche Deklarierung. Hierzu wird erläu- tert, wie Unternehmen Ihre Pro- dukte und Verfahren mit einer Umweltkennzeichnung versehen. Abgerundet wird das Programm mit einer Reihe von praktischen Vorträgen. Dazu zählen neben „Leder-Reparaturen DIY“ auch „Next Generation Business Mo- del“ sowie „Mystery German furniture market“. Wie bei jeder guten Mischung darf die Span- nung auch nicht fehlen: Für Über- raschungspotenzial sorgt der Vortrag „Mehr oder weniger – ist gleichzeitig eine Option?“, bei dem Besucher erst vor Ort erfah- ren, was sich genau hinter den Headlines verbirgt.
