Hannover Messe 2019
••• 17 ••• Messewelten “Showcasing the Bioeconomy” Bio-based products and research highlights at a joint stand in Hall 2 H annover Messe visitors will have the opportunity to ex- perience the bioeconomy’s lat- est product innovations and re- search findings at the joint stand “Showcasing the Bioeconomy” (Hall 2, Stand 45). Other types of events, such as the International Bioeconomy Conference, pro- mote the establishment of inter- national partnerships and drive economic change towards a bio- economy. Nineteen research projects cur- rently being funded by the Fed- eral Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL) will be presented at the joint stand “Showcasing the Bio- economy” at Hannover Messe 2019. The project management agency Jülich, BIOPRO Baden- Württemberg and the Agency for Renewable Resources (FNR) will showcase the opportunities of- fered by a biobased economy and demonstrate where the bioec- onomy is impacting our everyday lives. The BioEconomy Cluster will also be presenting two projects with its partners at the fair. The project SucroLevan will al- so be present. Funded by the BMBF’s “New Products of the Bioeconomy”, the project con- sortium is paving the way for the biotechnological production of a very pure form of levan. This interesting fructose polymer, with its hydrocolloidal structure, highly adhesive film properties and oxygen barrier has a wide range of applications, especially in the cosmeceutical sector. The network partners and cluster employees will also present the BioToM concept. BioToM-Bio- Economy to Market represents the fast and efficient initiation and implementation of research, development and innovation projects (R&D&I). The bioeco- nomic innovation space is open to start-ups, idea providers, so- lution seekers and developers – regardless of whether they are start-ups, SMEs or large compa- nies. It creates the ideal environ- ment for the development and market launch of new products, processes and services in the bio- economy. In Hall 2, 19 research projects will be pre- sented at the joined stand “Showcasing the Bioeconomy”. Visitors will also be able to experience live in-booth demos and attend specialist presentations on topics related to power grids, data transmission and electrical systems monitoring and diagnos- tics. New fibre optic technology for higher data transfer rates Developed especially for data cen- tres, Prysmian will be presenting its improved FlexRibbon™ prod- uct portfolio with increased chan- nel space utilization and 6,912 optical fibres, the highest count within the industry. The innova- tions feature an ultra-compact outside plant cable design whose bend-insensitive fibre are small enough to fit into a 50.8 mm/2” duct. “The requirement among large companies for more power- ful cables for their data centres is a market constant. FlexRibbon™ is responding to this demand by offering not only an ultra-compact design, but also exceptional instal- lation efficiency,” says Persson. Real-time monitoring and data gathering solutions for the ef- fective management and main- tenance of electrical systems With PRY-CAM, Prysmian is showcasing in Hannover a true revolution in the world of diag- nostics and monitoring of electri- cal systems, starting from partial discharge measurements – one of the key indicators of the reliability of a medium or high voltage cable system – up to the development of a series of devices for the meas- urement of temperature and other parameters that, so far, have been impossible to keep under control. The technology enables data col- lection the working conditions of any electrical system or equip- ment can be assessed in real time and without service interruptions. These solutions also generate a re- markable reduction in the risk of faults and related costs and con- tribute to make maintenance ac- tivities less burdensome for cus- tomers. Cable location with electrochip technology Prysmian’s PRY-ID information technology turns the cables them- selves into intelligent communi- cators. Cables with the PRY-ID system feature an electrochip that sends all the relevant identifica- tion data to an app. Information such as product name, tracking IDs and article numbers as well as CPR regulation-relevant infor- mation are pre-programmed and constantly available on the cloud. In addition, any amount of infor- mation can be provided to ensure secure marking, identification and localization of the cable. In contrast to conventional labels located on the outside of the ca- ble, the electrochip inside the ca- ble remains wear-free and legible. “PRY-ID works like an individual database for each cable. It offers the full range of information from identification number and cable length to packaging size,” ex- plains Persson. “Not only does its usage save time and money, it also increases the safety of employees and society as a whole by signifi- cantly reducing the risk of cutting the wrong cables.” Customized solutions made in Germany With seven research and devel- opment departments, Prysmian Group is the largest cable manu- facturer in Germany. Many of the new products displayed in Hannover originate from Ger- man plants. “We have estab- lished a strong position in one of the most important international markets,” says Frederik Persson. “The high level of local technical expertise available allows us to respond quickly to new require- ments and to offer our customers tailor-made solutions of truly high quality. Our German development departments also play a key role in Prysmian Group’s global inno- vation network, providing impor- tant impetus for tomorrow’s power grids and telecommunications net- works.”
