•••2••• Messewelten State-of-the-art technologies in Cologne FAF 2019 to showcase exciting new ideas for painters, nishers and plasterers A lways on the hunt for state- of-the-art technologies: FAF Farbe, Ausbau & Fassade show- cases the results of the latest research projects and provides exciting new ideas for painters, finishers and plasterers at the Cologne Exhibition Center from March 20th to 23rd, 2019. FAF 2019 showcases new technical solutions – ranging from products of the latest innovative start-ups to modern surface technologies and new occupational safety in- centives for the painting industry. These are the cutting-edge prod- ucts that are driving small and medium sized companies towards success. WorkLab in Hall 7 Researchers, associations, manu- facturers and experts from the respective field of practice pro- vide information and advice, for example on the advantages and disadvantages of various tech- nologies in thermal insulation, on the handling of asbestos in plasters and fillers, on new digi- tal tools or the new trends in fa- cades. What are the materials and surfaces of the future? Which factors influence the design pro- cess? In the WorkLab “render- ingCODES” in Hall 7, booth 120, visitors will find answers to all of their questions about the lat- est plastering trends. During the past three years, the Institute In- ternational Trendscouting (IIT) of the HAWK Hildesheim has been carrying out research to find out how we will live and work in the future. The research team head- ed by Prof. Markus Schlegel have developed new directions and options for action and new prod- ucts for the future, which will be explained and presented at FAF 2019. Another research project to be presented at FAF is called “De- sign Meets Function 2.0”. Facades play a particularly important role in determining the energy effi- ciency of buildings. Architecture students and trainees from the training centers of the plastering trade have jointly developed in- novative approaches and will pre- sent their work at the trade fair. Exciting ideas such as a walk-in sculpture featuring COR-TEN steel colour glaze and moss, functional surfaces for sound insulation and binding dust as well as green fa- cades made from lichens, algae and plants will be showcased. “With the project Design meets Function 2.0, we want to think ahead about the future of the fa- cade,” says Rainer König, Chair- man of the Federal Association of Construction and Facade. The Federal Association of Construc- tion, Facade in the ZDB and the company Caparol are all initiators of this project. Debut for new “Innovation Area” The “Innovation Area” in hall 7 (booth 431) will mark its premiere at FAF. The new theme area intro- duces intelligent solutions that make every day work easier and even cost-effective – from a pat- ented paint bucket package that ensures safe shipping with parcel services, a new anti-fungal prod- uct that works without biocides, to cork paint, a product, which provides new possibilities in fa- cade and interior design.
