•••9••• Messewelten High demand for high-tech plastic materials Injection moulding, extrusion, 3D printing and more: Fakuma will cover the entire value chain F rom sports cars to consumer products, from ophthalmic lenses and packaging materials right on up to yoga mats – to- day, more and more products are made of high-tech plastic materi- als. End-user requirements with regard to precision, durability and weight are increasing along with demand for low-cost items. Top-quality supply will once again meet with unbroken demand at this year’s Fakuma. The international plastics industry is doing very well. More and more products are being manufactured today with the help of plastics and composites. Simultaneously rising demand for better and bet- ter performance, as well as top- quality, necessitate a consistent innovative spirit and an unceasing stream of new development. This is also made apparent at Fa- kuma. Whether injection mould- ing, extrusion, thermoforming, foaming or 3D printing is involved – raw materials producers, ma- chine builders and manufacturers of precision parts will present all they have to offer in the way of innovation throughout the entire value chain in Friedrichshafen. “As the world’s number one event for plastics processing through injec- tion moulding, numerous exhibi- tors take advantage of Fakuma in order to unveil their new products to the public for the first time”, confirms project manager Anne- marie Schur. Private trade fair promoters P. E. Schall GmbH & Co. KG will once again count on their time-tested combination of techni- cal innovation and practical appli- cation at Fakuma 2018 – a philoso- phy which has led to the success of all Schall trade fairs. After all, the latest developments of universi- ties and scientific institutes are only as valuable as the benefits they provide for industrial appli- cations. Speaking of new devel- opments: The fact that everyone who’s anyone in the field of plas- tics processing anywhere in the world will come together at this in- dustry meet is made apparent by the rising levels of international- ism at this repeatedly booked out trade fair as well. Expert visitors, specialists and decision-makers journeyed to the last Fakuma in 2017 frommore than 120 countries. 48,375 expert visitors accepted the invitation of the roughly 1,900 ex- hibitors to attend the event in Frie- drichshafen on Lake Constance where Germany, Austria and Swit- zerland meet – and the numbers continue to rise. In addition to in- numerable participants from Ger- many and elsewhere in Europe, especially the number of visitors from Asia is increasing. Efficiency and Digitalisation One of the major issues currently occupying the world of plastics is efficiency – with regard to ener- gy-saving processing steps, elec- trified and thus more economi- cal machines, and more efficient processes. The users intend to get these challenges under control through, amongst other things, the increasing implementation of digitalisation. And in an age of lightweight design and the cli- mate change, materials efficiency is also a significant factor. KG Wiederverwertung steht bei Verarbeitern hoch im Kurs Messeveranstalter: „Branche wird immer nachhaltiger“ – Neue Lösungen für Recycling von Hightech-Werkstoffen auf Fakuma Zum ökologisch verantwortungs- vollen Umgang mit Kunststoffen gehört die gesamte Verarbei- tungskette. Was passiert heute mit ihnen, wenn sie in ihrem ers- ten Leben ausgedient haben? Die Lösungen hierfür sehen Experten aus aller Welt auf der Fakuma. Recycling und Wiederverwertung stehen gerade bei den Kunst- stoff-Be- und Verarbeitern hoch im Kurs. Das gelte nicht nur für den Wert- stoffkreislauf, sondern beispiels- weise auch für energiesparende und damit wirtschaftlichere Fer- tigungsverfahren, energieeffizi- ente Maschinen und biologisch abbaubare Kunststoffe. Dabei stehen die nachhaltigen Alternati- ven ihren klassischen Vorgängern in Beständigkeit, Verarbeitungs- qualität und Gewichteinsparung in nichts nach. Immer mehr Produkte werden heute mithilfe von Kunst- oder Verbundstoffen hergestellt. Der gleichzeitig steigende Anspruch an immer höhere Leistungsfähig- keit und beste Qualität fordert In- novationsbereitschaft und neue Entwicklungen. Neben „grünen“ Neuheiten zeigt die Fakuma auch alle Komponenten und Systeme, die für klassische wie innovative Verfahren nötig sind. Ob Spritz- gießen oder Extrudieren, ob ther- misches Umformen, Schäumen oder 3D-Printing – in Friedrichsha- fen präsentieren Rohstofferzeu- ger, Maschinenbauer und Herstel- ler von technischen Teilen, was sie an Innovationen für die gesamte Prozess- und Wertschöpfungs- kette bieten. „Für viele Ausstel- ler ist die Fakuma die praxisnahe Plattform, um ihre Innovationen erstmalig der Öffentlichkeit zu präsentieren“, ergänzt Annema- rie Schur.
