•••8••• Branchennews Boosting capabilities New Additive Manufacturing Hub to help the industry T he Australian Manufacturing Technology Institute Limited (AMTIL) has established a new Ad- ditive Manufacturing Hub in part- nership with the Victorian State Government, to help connect Vic- torian businesses with addivitve manufacturing (AM) technology. “3D printing is a game changer for manufacturing, which is why we’re backing the technology so more local companies can reap the benefits,” said the Minister for Industry and Employment Ben Carroll. “This new Hub will help local manufacturers innovate, be- come more productive and excel in future industries.” AM is a breakthrough technol- ogy for advanced manufactur- ing, helping businesses design and make new high-value prod- ucts that are not possible using traditional methods. Capability in this form of high-value manufac- turing will help to position local businesses for success in future industries such as defence, medi- cal technologies and pharmaceu- ticals, and transport technologies. The AM Hub will improve access for local companies to Victoria’s world-class AM infrastructure and promote Victoria as a globally sig- nificant destination for AM invest- ment. Victoria is the nation’s lead- er in AM with more 3D printing machines than any other state. A key activity within the AM Hub will be to address identified skill gaps within the industry, devel- oping capability in areas such as business case analysis and design for manufacture through Regis- tered Service Providers. To de- liver on this, a service offered to AM Hub Members in Victoria will be the ‘Build It Better’ AM Hub Grants Program. These grants will provide assistance to companies that want to develop business cases for investment in AM tech- nology, undertake design services or re-engineer existing products. “Additive manufacturing is having an impact on product develop- ment and manufacturing around the world,” said AMTIL CEO Shane Infanti. “Parts produced by addi- tive manufacturing are going into aircraft, race cars, home and of- fice products, and human beings. We have come a long way since stereolithography was first pat- ented in 1984. But we still have a long way to go to realise the op- portunities that additive manu- facturing has to offer. Eine DLC (diamond-like carbon) Beschichtung schützt zu- verlässig vor Kaltpress-Aufschweißungen, die in diesen Materialien häug vorkommen. NORIS SPANLOS NEO GAL Der NORIS SPANLOS NEO GAL Gewindeformer wurde speziell für das Gewindeformen in rela�v schlecht um- formbaren Aluminium-Gusslegierungen entwickelt. Die Geometrie hat einen steil ausgeprägten, sowohl in Um- formrichtung als auch am Rücken, symmetrischen Hub. Die Besonderheit liegt an einer Glei�läche dazwischen, welche der besonders hohen Abrasivität dieser Guss- werkstoffe gezielt Widerstand bietet. Als Beschichtung funk�oniert hier eine mehrlagige TiCN-Beschichtung, welche sich besonders bei abrasivem Verschleiß be- währt hat. NORIS EIR HR REIME NORIS präsen�ert einen neuen Innengewinde- fräser für die universelle Anwendung in verschiedens- ten Materialien. Die Prolauslegung dieser einreihigen Gewindefräswerkzeuge besitzt eine maximale Steigung für die Herstellung von metrischen Regelgewinden und deckt darüber hinaus noch die Steigungen gängiger metrischer Feingewinde ab. Die Fräser sind aus einer Ultrafeinkorn-Hartmetallsorte hergestellt. Veredelt mit einer TiCN-Beschichtung, zeigen die Werkzeuge hervor- ragende Leistungen in nahezu allen technischen Werk- stoffen.
