AMB 2018
•••6••• Messewelten Talent instead of an oil can Demographic change has arrived in production halls and big com- panies are frequently grabbing the best people during this good economic situation. However, there are many positive exam- ples of how good trainees can be found in times of scarce person- nel. Some exhibitors at AMB will show what can be done. The event itself will also publici- se a “fantastic industry through an exciting accompanying pro- gramme”, the trade fair organi- ser Messe Stuttgart announces. The VDW Mechanical Enginee- ring Youth Foundation, for exam- ple, has found a second home in southern Germany, i.e. Tübingen. On an area of 250 square metres mechanical engineering compa- nies in southern Germany recei- ve competent advice on training. The site manager is Michael Müh- legg: “Our consultants also visit the companies in Baden-Würt- temberg, Bavaria and the Rhine- land-Palatinate, and provide as- sistance in connection with the topic of dual training.” One of the focal points here is a mobile, digi- tal learning platform which was developed by the Youth Founda- tion and helps the companies to provide training geared towards Industry 4.0. Another objective is to improve the image of training in order to recruit urgently nee- ded young people as specialists. New thematic hall planning at this year s AMB With a new thematic hall plan- ning, AMB returns to Stuttgart. The topics in the exhibition areas will be restructured: machining tools and chucking tools will be presented in the L-Bank Forum (Hall 1) and Hall 3. Hall 4 and Oskar Lapp Hall (Hall 6) will focus on lathes and automatic lathes. Hall 5 will feature grinding machines, tool grinding machines and every- thing relating to them. Alfred Kär- cher Hall (Hall 8) will present the innovations in sawing and cut- ting-off grinding machines, surfa- ce technology, marking systems, hardening and heating machines, lubrication and cooling, and safe- ty and environmental enginee- ring. Hall 7, Hall 9 and the new Paul Horn Hall (Hall 10) will round off the exhibition programme with milling machines, metal-re- moving process machine tools, measuring systems and quality as- surance, as well as flexible pro- duction cells/systems, machining centres, gear cutting machines and drilling machines. Suppliers of control and drive systems, CAD/ CAM/CAE and production soft- ware will also be found from now on directly at the East entrance and in Hall 2 at the entrance to the trade fair grounds. “Special show for young people” of the Mechanical Engineering Youth Foundation: By construc- ting a model Formula 1 car, young people can become acquainted with a typical process chain.
