The the world’s largest seafood trade event is moving to Barcelona in 2021.
In September, Diversified Communications, the organizer of the event has announced its decision of moving to Fira de Barcelona's Gran Via venue in Barcelona, Spain, to ensure the event's development in a city and a facility that ensures long-term growth.

After 28 years in Brussels, Belgium, including the coming edition that will take place on 21-23 April 2020, rthe trade show will hold its 29th edition on 27-29 April 2021 at Fira de Barcelona's Gran Via venue. The organizers have explained that the decision is the result of extensive market research based on exhibitor and attendee feedback over the years and an evaluation of major destinations throughout Europe.

To the organizer, headquartered in Portland, Maine, USA, Barcelona's position as an international destination, a major seafood hub in Europe as well as its robust hotel offering, and state-of-the-art trade show venue have been key aspects in a decision that seeks to provide attendees and exhibitors considerable value for their investment and a larger, modern venue that will present long-term growth opportunities.

"The location of our event contributes to our customers' overall experience," said Mary Larkin, President of Diversified Communications USA. "The Brussels Expo and the city of Brussels were great partners to launch and grow this event, and we appreciate the services and support they provided over the years. Moving the event to a larger city and venue, with opportunity for long term growth, is a necessary evolution. It will enhance the visitor experience and the business being done between buyers and sellers."

Fira de Barcelona's General Manager, Constantí Serrallonga, stressed that "We are excited to host the largest seafood event in the world, strengthening Barcelona and Fira's position as a global destination for large international events that have an important economic and social impact". Along the same lines, Serrallonga added that "The arrival of this new trade show is part of the institution's strategy to attract leading global events" and highlighted how "the Gran Via venue offers cutting-edge services and logistics together with Fira's expertise in the organization of large events."

Seafood Expo Global and Seafood Processing Global form the world's largest seafood trade event. Thousands of buyers and suppliers from around the world attend the annual, three-day exposition to meet, network and conduct business. Attending buyers represent importers, exporters, wholesalers, restaurants, supermarkets, hotels, and other retail and foodservice companies. Exhibiting suppliers offer the newest seafood products, processing and packaging equipment, and services available in the seafood market. SeafoodSource.com is the exposition's official media. The exposition is produced by Diversified Communications, the international leader in seafood-industry expositions and media.
