Advanced Systems Engineering aims to reduce production costs for SMEs

The medical technology industry is facing major challenges due to digitalization, new manufacturing technologies and changes in the regulatory frame-work. In order to strengthen the innovative power of the SME-driven German medical technology industry, the BMBF joint project "EUREKA-AMeLie: New Advanced Systems Engineering Methods for Development Processes Using Product Examples from Medical Technology and Lifesciences", launched in October 2020, aims to create new opportunities for a structure for networked product development. Classical approaches and methods of systems engineer-ing along the V-model will be tested for their applicability with regard to new challenges and are interpreted and redeveloped in a contemporary way, taking into account work-science aspects.

Lack of understanding of common heart condition leads to missed treatment opportunities

Poor awareness of a condition known as Heart Failure with preserved Ejection Fraction (HFpEF) - the cause of a half of all cases of heart failure in England could be hindering opportunities to improve care for patients, say researchers from the Universities of Cambridge, Manchester, and Keele.

39th IDS defying the Corona crisis and treading new paths in 2021

The uncertainty caused by the ongoing Corona crisis is also noticeable within the dental industry. Over the past months, together with Koelnmesse, the partners of the 39th edition, IDS 2021, the GFDI mbH, a commercial company of the VDDI, the association and its bodies have intensely occupied themselves with the safety criteria, which makes the physical presence of an international trade fair like IDS possible. Ultimately, different solutions were developed jointly by all of the parties concerned and an alternative concept was drawn up for the trade fair format, IDS.

Innovative hygiene concepts in the dental practice: This is precisely why IDS 2021 is so important

Dental surgeries are considered to be one of the most Corona-secure places in the country. After all, "hygiene and infection control" is a core competence of the dental and dentist technician teams as well as of their dental industry partners. The International Dental Show (IDS) from 9 to 13 March 2021 in Cologne will also be conducted under a safe hygiene concept of Koelnmesse. Under the title #B-SAFE4business, numerous measures can be found on the website www.english.ids-cologne.de which demonstrate the highest level of professional safety to the visitors and exhibitors of IDS 2021.

Start-ups launch at MEDICA

The MEDICA, the world’s leading medical trade fair held in Düsseldorf, was one of the very first events across all industries to offer young companies in their founding phase special programme formats to present their concepts many years ago. It has subsequently become the international number one for health start-ups too. The creative and predominantly digitally driven start-up scene will be the centre of attention once again at MEDICA 2020 (run time: 16 to 19 November). This is because, following the Corona pandemic, mobile and easily applicable solutions for linking the actors in the healthcare system have become even more important.

MEDICA + COMPAMED 2020: The Coronavirus has grabbed the world’s attention and increased the focus on good healthcare and modern equipment

Globally, no sector has been placed under the magnifying glass more than the healthcare sector due to the Corona pandemic. Hospitals, outpatient clinics, practice-based physicians and care facilities have experienced a sudden increased demand for medical and laboratory technology, a wide variety of medical products, digital health applications and, most of all, personal protective equipment. Under these conditions, the plans for the world’s biggest medical trade fair MEDICA 2020 and the number one trade fair for suppliers of the medical technology industry, COMPAMED 2020, held in parallel, are revving up to full throttle. Both events will take place from 16 to 19 November in Düsseldorf – closely interlinked with extensive digital offers and services.
