Whether for individual micro-implants or for micro-implants with medicine depots – additive processes are ideally suited for manufacturing such components. In the project “REMEDIS”, scientists at the Laser Zentrum Hannover e.V. (LZH) have established a highly automated laser melting process to produce or coat implants made of platinum, nickel-titanium (NiTi) or stainless steel.

Mobile health applications are a primary focus at the Medica Connected Healthcare Forum, whereby, this year as well, the app competition organised by Mark Wächter will be supplying exciting ideas for helpful mobile device applications. For example, the iPad app “Medopad” was triumphant at Medica 2014: It makes it possible to safely integrate registered health data into existing databases and make these data available on tablet PCs.
