opti took place over six halls for the first time – and the survey responses of the 28,000 visitors and 631 exhibitors painted a clear picture: this was a crucial step forward into the future of opti. 94 percent of the visitors awarded the opti with the highest grades.

The Fraunhofer Institute for Production Technology IPT in Aachen has expanded its machinery with a new system for the automated molding of high-precision optical glass components. As a result, the institute is now the only research institution in Europe able to offer research on efficient small-series production of small glass optics using a wafer-level approach. Quantum optical sensor tested in space
For the first time ever, a cloud of ultra-cold atoms has been successfully created in space on board of a sounding rocket.
