Furthermore new applications to participate at the trade fair for dentistry and dental technology are ingoing. After the record result of IDS 2017 with 2,305 exhibitors from 59 countries and over 155,000 trade visitors from 157 countries, the organizers GFDI and Koelnmesse, the company staging the event, are currently anticipating a further record result for the coming IDS 2019.
With the integration of Hall 5, where among others several large suppliers of consumer prophylaxis will be exhibiting, IDS is creating the necessary capacity for the strong demand on the part of the exhibitors and visitors. Hall 5 fits in with the natural tour of the trade fair and is well connected to the new entrance on the Trade Fair Boulevard, the visitor car parks on the surrounding parking lots as well as the shuttle bus station for the new trade fair car park, the organizer states. Furthermore, the additional hall would further enhance the overall quality of stay for the visitors of IDS: the wide aisles and the light-flooded passages provide an improved orientation and lend the event an even better structure. IDS 2019 covers Halls 2, 3, 4, 5, 10 and 11, spanning a total gross floor area of around 170,000 m².
Taking the applications already received into account, Koelnmesse and the GFDI are once again expecting a new record participation for IDS 2019. According to the organizer numerous enquiries from potential new exhibitors have especially been received from abroad, an up until now twenty foreign group stands have already confirmed their participation.

IDS 2019 with additional hall in Cologne
The preparations for the 38th International Dental Show from 12 to 16 March 2019 in Cologne are in full swing. More companies have already confirmed their participation compared to the same period two years ago, the organizer announced.

IDS 2021: VDDI and Koelnmesse postpone the International Dental Show from March until autumn 2021
With a view to the unchanged challenges the Corona pandemic is raising in Germany and the anticipated continuation of the extensive restriction of personal contacts by the Government, States and municipalities at the beginning of the new year, the VDDI board, the Gesellschaft zur Förderung der DentalIndustrie mbH (GFDI) (the commercial enterprise of the VDDI) and Koelnmesse have decided to postpone IDS - the International Dental Show. The trade fair that was originally planned to take place from 10 to 13 March, will now be held from 22 to 25 September 2021. The organisers are taking this step in reaction to the currently ongoing Corona policy, which may be extended in Germany into the new year. By postponing the 39th edition of IDS to the September, the organisers are hoping that due to the then anticipated, improved health situation and relaxation of the travel restrictions more international partners and customers will travel to Cologne. 39th IDS defying the Corona crisis and treading new paths in 2021
The uncertainty caused by the ongoing Corona crisis is also noticeable within the dental industry. Over the past months, together with Koelnmesse, the partners of the 39th edition, IDS 2021, the GFDI mbH, a commercial company of the VDDI, the association and its bodies have intensely occupied themselves with the safety criteria, which makes the physical presence of an international trade fair like IDS possible.
