Ulrich Kromer, President of Messe Stuttgart affirmed: "We remain committed to AMB Iran in spite of the unclear situation at present. Over the last three years we have developed strong partnerships with industry and politicians. The fact that the Deputy Minister of the Iranian Ministry of Industry, Mohsen Salehinia, is opening our exhibition and that the European Commission is also represented proves that our work and presence are appreciated. We therefore have an obligation towards our exhibitors, the visitors and Iranian industry to stage AMB Iran 2018 as planned.“
Dr. Wilfried Schäfer, Executive Director of the German Machine Tool Builders' Association (VDW), added: "As long as the European Union does not reimpose its sanctions, business with Iran is legally possible. There are good opportunities for companies, whose machine exports are not subject to a licence, as well as for manufacturers of tools and components. AMB Iran therefore remains a welcome platform for German and international suppliers to demonstrate their competencies.“
The presence of EU representatives at the exhibition is a clear indication of the efforts being made by the European Union in regard to economic and trade relations with Iran. Christo Stefanov Polendakov, Bulgarian Ambassador to Iran, will take part in the opening ceremony as the spokesman of the EU member states during Bulgaria's EU Council Presidency. He will be accompanied by the representative of the European Commission, Dr. Eric Mamer, Director of the Directorate-General GROW which is responsible within the Commission for the internal market, industry, entrepreneurship and SMEs.
An EU-Iran Forum will also be held on the first day of the exhibition under the overall direction of the European Commission. The speakers will include an adviser to Federica Mogherini, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, and an expert on financial relations between the EU and Iran.
AMB Iran 2018 will also be supported by a matchmaking initiative of the European Commission. The "Business Beyond Borders" programme is being organised by Eurochambres, the Association of European Chambers of Commerce and Industry, with support from EMECA (European Major Exhibition Centres Association), UFI (Union of International Fairs) and LOW, a strategic communications consultancy with a network of associates across Europe.
AMB Iran will take place at the Shahr-e-Aftab Trade Fair Centre in Tehran from 26 to 29 June 2018.
