Photo: Meissner Energy efficiency is crucial R+T to showcase latest trends in the door and gate industry W hat are the trends and topics with which manufacturers and trade partners can together successfully sat- isfy demand on the door and gate market? The topic of energy effi- ciency is still the focal point of in- terest in regard to solutions. It will therefore also be examined during R+T 2018 in Stuttgart. Firstly, suitable insulation and the avoidance of heat bridges inside the structure ensure that energy does not readily escape. Secondly, the use of transparent areas tai- lored to each individual building situation facilitates maximum ex- ploitation of natural daylight, thus reducing the costs for artificial lighting. Intelligent control units also enable opening and closing times to be optimised – which substantially improves the energy balance of large warehouses and production halls. Efficiency, safety and design An exhibitor, for example, follows these parameters: heat-insulating doors and gates, high-speed doors and gates or in- telligent high-tech industrial doors from the manufacturer only open as wide as is necessary for loading or passing through. The company is supporting the trend towards improved energy efficien- cy with its products for commercial and privately used buildings. A great of attention will also be paid to the area of doors and gates in the exhi- bition halls during R+T 2018. In addition to energy efficiency and the safety as- pect, the topic of design will certainly not be neglected at the world’s leading trade fair for roller shutters, doors/gates and sun protection systems. For exam- ple, doors and gates have long been more than just a design element in both the private sector and in commercial ap- plications. They occupy a large part of a façade and can be integrated in the overall concept in a creatively appealing way using a wide range of available col- ours and surfaces. Exhibitors at R+T 2018 will therefore show visitors a wealth of product impressions with which the door and gate industry can undoubtedly continue its development as positively as it has so far. Background For over 50 years, companies have been presenting their innovations and dem- onstrating their solutions for the central topics in the industry at R+T, the world’s leading trade fair for roller shutters, doors/gates and sun protection systems. During the trade fair or at one of the nu- merous evening events: R+T pro- vides an opportunity to exchange ideas and opinions with col- leagues, and is the ideal platform for intensive specialist discussions. Several specialist forums and net- working events ensure that con- tacts are forged and give partici- pants new impetus for their daily work. As the world’s leading trade fair, R+T is equally a meeting point for the industry, a trend barom- eter and an innovation platform. Strong support With the Federal Association for Manufacturers of Roller Shutters and Sun Protection (BVRS), the National Federation of Door and Gate Manufacturers (BVT) and the Industrial Association for Techni- cal Textiles, Roller Shutters and Sun Protection (ITRS), R+T can count on the support of strong partners who ensure market orientation. A large number of associations and institutions, e. g. the European Solar Shading Organi- sation (ES-SO) and ift Rosenheim, are in- volved in R+T and actively help to shape the accompanying programme. 888 exhibitors (2012: 816) from all cor- ners of the world presented their prod- ucts and services in Stuttgart in 2015. In addition to the major exhibitor coun- tries, which include Italy, France and the Netherlands, the trade fair also record- ed growth in 2015 from countries who were not previously represented at R+T. The 59,057 visitors also came from all over the world: They travelled from 131 countries, Messe Stuttgart reports. The use of transparent areas tailored to each individual building situation facili- tates maximum exploitation of natural daylight. Innovation Prize in nine categories The R+T Innovation Prize is a per- manent fixture in the accompany- ing programme of the world’s leading trade fair for roller shut- ters, doors/gates and sun protec- tion. “Innovative and forward- looking products are awarded in nine categories”, explains Sebas- tian Schmid. Starting with the product groups roller shutters, awnings, gather- ing blinds / Roman blinds, internal sun protection systems, techni- cal textiles, doors/gates and spe- cial solutions through to drives and control systems, additional special prizes will be awarded for design, energy efficiency, crafts- manship and talented young craftsmen. The Innovation Prize will be awarded for the tenth time by Messe Stuttgart, the Federal As- sociation for Manufacturers of Roller Shutters and Sun Protec- tion (BVRS), the National Federa- tion of Door and Gate Manufac- turers (BVT) and the Industrial Association of Technical Textiles, Roller Shutters and Sun Protec- tion.
