••• 7 ••• Messewelten 3D-Druck: Wesentlich mehr als Spielerei Dass hinter dem Hype-Thema 3D-Druck wesentlich mehr steckt als eine Spielerei am Frühstückstisch, zeigt die internatio- nale Fachkonferenz „Inside 3D Printing“, die am 21. und 22. Februar auf der Metav stattfindet. Im Fokus der mit 10000 Besuchern größ- ten Veranstaltungsreihe der Branche, deren weitere Stationen 2018 unter an- derem Singapur, Sydney, New York und Tokio sein werden, steht neben dem Informationsaustausch vor allem der Blick in die Zukunft. Mit Spannung darf erwartet werden, mit welchen Ideen führende Unternehmen die noch immer großen Herausforderungen im Bereich der Forschung, Technologieentwick- lung und Integration in die Wertschöp- fungskette angehen wollen. Besucher der Metav können die Inside 3D Printing als „ideale Ergänzung des Messeange- bots“ wahrnehmen. Während sie beim Besuch der Ausstellerstände den neues- ten Stand der Technik erleben, gewährt ihnen die Konferenz auf der Messe einen Einblick in die zukünftigen Ideen der Un- ternehmen. Aber auch Fachbesucher, die nur für die Inside 3D Printing den Weg nach Düsseldorf finden, sollen voll auf ihre Kosten kommen, versprechen die Veranstalter. Bei der Konferenz setze man nicht auf Frontalvorträge, sondern stelle die aktive Interaktion zwischen Referenten und Besuchern in den Mit- telpunkt, hieß es. Latest innovations in grinding tech At the Congress Center Düssel- dorf, the 7th Dortmund Grinding Seminar “Metav-Special 2018” will be held on 22 and 23 Febru- ary 2018. The seminar will be hosted by the Institute of Ma- chining Technology (ISF) at Dort- mund University of Applied Sci- ence in conjunction with the VDW (German Machine Tool Builders’ Association). It will pro- vide illuminating insights into the latest developments, potentials and practical implementations in the fields of grinding technology and ultra-high-precision machin- ing. Grinding processes are used for high- and ultra-high-precision machining, and will in most cases be located at the end of the pro- cess chains involved. They guarantee high surface and component qualities. But the re- quirements for these processes are becoming progressively more stringent, e. g. in regard to the machining of new materials and composites, or also maximised metal removal rates. “Increasing the productivity of these processes will necessitate new advances in terms of tools, machinery, and their production environment, plus of course the processes involved,” points out Prof. Dirk Biermann, Director of the ISF in Dortmund. So these are also the three areas that will be addressed in the Grinding Seminar. There will be presentations, for example, on layer characterisa- tion, or also on implementing robots in production operations and up-to-the-future dressing machines. The keynote focus this year is on processes featuring ca- pabilities like complete machin- ing by means of laser deposition welding, milling and grinding. Highly qualified experts will also be dealing with layer aftertreat- ment, reducing wear and tear during grinding, and process de- sign and development.
