Gunnar Mey, Department Director of In- dustrial Solutions at Messe Stutt- gart, clarifies: “Companies want to know how Industry 4.0 and the digitalisation of processes can be implemented. What providers have already successfully carried out pro- jects? What applications or models are available and are relevant to the respective company? With Digital Way at AMB 2018, we will bring so- lution-oriented offers and demand together.” In addition to an expert conference, which is being developed in coop- eration with the Software and Digi- talisation Association in the German Engineering Federation (VDMA), and a supplementary accompanying exhibition with over 50 companies, interactive showcases will dem- onstrate the interaction between networked processes in companies and will describe their added value. The accompanying exhibition will feature manufacturers of software solutions in the areas of digital busi- ness processes and models, digital production, digital product develop- ment, digital services & customer service and software development, as well as service providers and manufacturers of hardware. Further opportunities for match- making between Digital Way exhibi- tors, visitors and exhibitors at AMB and conference delegates will be available due to the extended open- ing hours of Digital Way on the first day of the exhibition with an addi- tional networking event. The con- cept has met with great interest both in the associations and in the IT and metal working industries. Prof. Claus Oetter, Deputy direc- tor of the Software and Digitali- sation Association in the VDMA, says “the synergy between IT and the software industry, as well as the Engineering Association, is what characterises the innova- tion in digitalisation in the first place. In the digitalised world only industry can manufacture new products which are beneficial to producers and customers.” The German Engineering Federa- tion VDMA will provide informa- tion on the spot about its numer- ous activities and will present new technologies during a live demon- stration. Industry 4.0 and digitali- sation processes can be experienced live in the “Digital Way” special show during AMB 2018. Photo: Messe Stuttgart Integrated Lightweight Plaza Lightweight construction will play a prominent role throughout eve- ry section of Hannover Messe 2018 (23 to 27 April, 2018), but the Industrial Supply show in Hall 5 will serve as the primary show- case for this hot topic. Here, solu- tion-seekers can head for the Inte- grated Lightweight Plaza, which is a new marketplace for light- weight materials, processes and solutions across the entire indus- trial spectrum. The Plaza will feature a Speakers’ Corner and a central presentation area. 14 national associations and organizations are contributing their expertise to the Integrated Lightweight Plaza. The new Pla- za in Hall 5 embraces the entire process chain: plant engineering, production automation, design, materials, functional integration, modelling, simulation, recycling, as well as measuring and testing. The aim is to make the Integrated Lightweight Plaza as vivid and ac- cessible as possible for the visiting public. MACH 2018 to return with new show layout MACH 2018 takes place at the NEC in Birmingham from 9-13 April and is on course to be another bumper show, organizer MTA (Manufactur ing Technologies Associa- tion) reports. With a new layout, the showcase for advanced engineering and manufacturing will return on the atrium side of the NEC. Following on from the “sold-out success of MACH 2016”, the MTA CEO James Selka commented: “With new halls and extra space to sell, we are see- ing premium spots being snapped up by exhibitors at a good rate, leaving us with a little under a quarter of the show left to sell, which is a very encouraging sign for the industry at this stage. So we’d encourage all companies wishing to book a stand for MACH 2018 to act quickly to secure their space at the UK’s premier manufacturing technologies showcase.” MACH 2018 will take place on the atrium side of the NEC, in Halls 17, 18, 19, 20, 6 and 7. This is the first move of the show since relocating to the NEC when it opened in 1976 and reflects the changing technologies the show covers.
