••• 10••• Messewelten START-UP HUB at EuroCIS 2018 What could be better suited for EuroCIS 2018 than providing a dedicated presentation space for newcomers who have devoted themselves especially to the de- velopment of IT systems and solu- tions in the retail trade? Around ten start-ups will present them- selves to EuroCIS trade visitors with their own stand that has been specially created for them in an attractively designed area. In addition, on each day of the trade fair, the START-UP HUB will have its own forum where the exhibi- tors will give exciting talks and discussions on everything relating to their innovative solutions. Der Deutsche Pavil- lon präsentiert dem asiatischen Markt den State-of-the-art Euro- pas in Sachen Retail Design- und Retail Technology. Das C-star Re- tail-Forum bietet wieder Bran- chen-Know-how, Trendberichte und die Gelegenheit zum Networ- king. The data required is furnished by mod- ern IP cameras and smart evalu- ation programs. At EuroCIS 2018 in Düsseldorf the exhibitors will show what is feasible today. Cameras in retail stores, together with smart software, make it pos- sible to analyse shoppers’ behav- iour in detail. Such systems can identify car number plates on the parking lot, for example, and give retailers an idea about their current catchment area thereby making marketing plans more ef- fective. They can count shoppers on the retail space – making it pos- sible to determine the conversion rate and initiate targeted measures for im- proving the footfall-purchase ratio. They follow shoppers’ paths and generate heat maps of the individual store zones, thereby producing a clear picture of the number and residence time of shoppers in individual store areas. On the basis of this data shopping paths can be better controlled and campaign zones can be positioned in opti- mum locations. Furthermore, it is possible to iden- tify groups of shoppers by gender, age and other criteria. This way ranges and campaign offers can be especially geared to the shop- per structure. At EuroCIS 2018 a multitude of technical solutions will be presented to do this. The focus will be on state-of-the-art IP camera technology and its versa- tile possibilities. It is gradually re- placing the photoelectric barrier, radar or laser technologies used in retail for years, but only for fre- quency detection.
