Mr. Oettinger will be addressing the forum on CeMAT Monday (23 April) from 5:00 to 5:30 pm. The forum’s opening address will be given by Professor Dr. Michael ten Hompel, Chair of Materials Handling and Warehousing at TU Dortmund University and director of the Fraunhofer Institute for Material Flow and Logistics (IML). His paper is titled: “Lo- gistics 4.0: The world will turn itself on its head – because it can”. The abstract is as follows: “It’s 2018, and all the technologies needed to make the fourth industrial revo- lution a reality are already available. As the driving force of the fourth industrial revo- lution, logistics will play a key role in this. Forklifts are becoming autonomous guided vehicles, parts bins are becoming cyber- physical systems, and the classic transpor- tation and materials handling industry is becoming a mainstay of the platform econ- omy.
