The congress again provides participants with a forum for mutual exchange as well as for identifying and sharing Best Practices. In its sixth year, this Initiative of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), the United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP) and Messe Düsseldorf has more than 850 members from industry, associations, research institutes and NGOs.
The opening speeches for the one-day Congress will be presented by Werner Matthias Dornscheidt, President & CEO of Messe Düsseldorf GmbH, and Kostas G. Stamoulis, Deputy Director General of the Economic and Social Development Department of the FAO. In his talk he will deal with the challenges of global nutrition in the 21st century. After that, he and Dornscheidt will sign a Memorandum of Understanding about the further collaboration of FAO and Messe Düsseldorf as key partners of the SAVE FOOD Initiative.
For the entire duration of interpack from 4 to 10 May trade fair visitors will be able to find out about concrete solutions and approaches revolving around SAVE FOOD at the innovationparc. Some 20 companies will be exhibiting there on approximately 2,500 square metres in a high-quality marquee between Halls 2 and 3. A lecture forum complements the exhibitors’ ranges over all days of the exhibition. This is also where the presentation of the SAVE FOOD School Award will take place on 4 May.

3rd SAVE FOOD Congress at interpack
For its 3rd edition the SAVE FOOD Congress held on 4 May 2017 at Congress Center Süd of the Düsseldorf exhibition centre as part of interpack 2017 will pursue a multi-dimensional approach for fighting food losses and waste. The trade fair interpack will take place on 4-10 May, 2017.

interpack 2021 still on course to take place

Dates for interpack 2020 have been set
Following the Düsseldorf trade fair cycle, the next interpack at the Düsseldorf Exhibition Centre will be held in three years' time, from 7 to 13 May 2020. Special show “innovationparc” at interpack
SAVE FOOD will play an important role at interpack 2017. A special show called innovationparc (Innovation Park) will be held, with packaging ideas and solutions designed to reduce food losses and waste. If women exchange ideas, they can profit and with them so can the entire sector. interpack deliberately brings international women from the sector together for the trade fair in May. Under the title “Women in Packaging”, on 8 May there will be a first time event explicitly for the women in the sector. The programme features a discussion on stage with top speakers from all over the world as well as opportunities for networking. The event is supported by the WPO – World Packaging Organization – which is contributing its worldwide network. (more…)
